this amazing team. Radiology is an integral part in the diagnostic process of almost every patient seen at Hurley, both inpatient and outpatient. The team in Radiology always pulls together to cover where they are needed. Team members assist NICU, Adult Care, Pediatrics, the Emergency Department and even Surgery. With the high demand for our services, teamwork is essential for us to provide our patients with the best care. This team works very well together, especially when in high-pressure situations. They are very competent. Rick noted, “There are so many different relationships that have developed between all of these coworkers. They are definitely like a family and take pride in being part of the overall team that is here at Hurley Medical Center."

"Radiology’s role is central to disease management. The tools and techniques that we have available here at Hurley can detect, stage, and determine the treatment plan for the patient. It takes a high level of expertise to obtain high-quality images that give detailed information about what is going on with the patient. Hurley is fortunate to have such hard working team members in our Radiology Department." simple solutions to

incontinence and pelvic pain Hurley hosted a “Live” Virtual Hurley Healthy Living event on Simple Solutions to Incontinence & Pelvic Pain, on Tuesday, November 21, on Facebook, YouTube and hurleymc.com. Viewers tuned in for a live discussion with presenter Kacy Houle, PT, DPT, Physical Therapist. Bladder incontinence and pelvic pain are common problems many women suffer from but may be embarrassed to share with their medical provider. Symptoms can be a result of childbirth, pregnancy, menopause, hysterectomies, surgery, medication, injuries, or aging. Although these symptoms are common, they are not normal and most can be treated conservatively with pelvic floor physical therapy.

To speed up the process for appointments, please request a referral prescription from your primary care physician and then contact:

hurley news

For over two decades, Hurley Medical Center has stood steadfast behind Shoes that Fit, a cause close to our hearts. Originally known as Connie’s Closet, this non-profit initiative took root in 1990 thanks to the dedication of Connie Rau, a teaching assistant in Flint City. At Hurley, we take immense pride in supporting this noble cause by offering new athletic shoes and snow boots to children in need, ensuring they can attend school comfortably and with dignity. This incredible achievement is truly a testament to all of YOU! Your collective efforts have made this program a resounding success.

20 • HURLEY MEDICAL CENTER

Shoes that Fit empower children to flourish. Inadequate footwear robs kids of the quintessential experiences of childhood. The impact of new shoes extends far beyond what one might imagine! They enable kids to embrace childhood with a sense of pride, joy, and confidence. This year, thanks to your support, Hurley was able to provide over 450 pairs of shoes to elementary students in Flint, bringing our total over the past 23 years to 11,000 pairs of new shoes. Your generosity has made a tangible difference in the lives of these children, setting them on a path where they can walk with assurance into a brighter future.

hurley news

A special thank you to all Hurley employees who donated to the 2023 Coats for Kids program. Team Hurley donated more than 70 coats this year, as well as hats, scarves and mittens. These “New” or “Gently Worn” coats, hats, scarves and mittens will help keep children in Mid-Michigan warm. Hurley is proud to support this program, which has been helping local kids for over 25 years. Your donations are appreciated, as they definitely help to make the Coats for Kids program a success. Your generosity means everything to the community we serve. Thank you again for your commitment and kindness!
