huntsmanmentalhealthinstitute
Huntsman Mental Health Institute at the University of Utah brings together 75 years of patient care, research, and education to solve one of our nation’s greatest challenges: untreated mental health conditions. Our research is dedicated to better understanding the brain and developing treatments for addiction, anxiety, depression, and suicide, drawing from the largest data set of suicide mortality in the world. The heart of our work is anchored in patient care, provided by compassionate physicians and staff at our 161-bed hospital and in more than 85 places across the Mountain West. Our team runs the nation’s leading integrated crisis care model, including walk-in and mobile units, the SafeUT app, and the 988 crisis hotline for Utah. We educate hundreds of learners in mental health care every year and provide specialized psychiatric training in forensic, rural, and global health. A transformational gift of $150 million from the Huntsman family helps power our mission to advance mental health knowledge, hope and healing for all.
