Choosing the Right Social Media More networks do not necessarily equal more impact. So, our best advice is to choose one, stick to it and update it frequently.

Starting Out on Social Media It’s important to get your branding right so that your social media is simple and attractive. Make sure you have a header/cover photo, small bio and the profile picture ideally featuring your logo and tagline. There’s a great free design site called Canva.com with a load of pre-made designs to help you do this.

Representing your Campaign Whatever your objective you need to come across as professional on social media. Be sure to read through your tweet or Facebook update a couple of times before publishing it to make sure both the spelling and grammar are correct and that the wording is inoffensive. However, try and keep it fun too emojis, GIFs and cat pictures are totally encouraged providing you use them in an engaging manner that fits with or furthers the message of your campaign.

Increasing your Online Presence Consistency is the best way to increase your online presence. Daily updates may seem like a bit of a chore, but they don’t need to be. Put 10 minutes aside whilst you’re eating breakfast and head over to a scheduling service like Hootsuite or Tweet Deck. 10 minutes later you’ve got yourself a whole three days worth of updates! It’s also important to be responsive check for updates regularly or opt to receive notifications straight to your phone and always try and respond.

Dealing with Haters Haters are always going to hate but you have the power to help minimise the effects of that negativity. Be positive, polite and diplomatic when dealing with criticism and thanking someone for their feedback is a great way to do that. Hashtags are a popular and effective way of categorising your updates and making them easily searchable. However, #It’s #no #fun #to #read #a #tweet #like #this. So take care to use relevant and up to date hashtags and never use more than two – unless you’re on Instagram. CAPITAL LETTERS ARE NOT COOL and are likely to leave your audience scrolling past whatever important update you just gave them. No one wants to be shouted at. Pictures are your secret weapon when it comes to engagement – statuses and tweets almost always get more engagement than those without.
