QUICK START GUIDE So you’ve set up your account and now you want to get your video up on the web? Well this handy guide is here to tell you how to get the most out of V-Play. See that little button in the top of each page? Click it to login. This will take you to your profile. Now your profile can be customised any way you like. Why not upload a logo for your account to make things a little more personal, or edit your contact details so that someone who likes your work knows how to get in contact with you easily. Networking has never been so easy. But you didn’t sign up with V-Play just to network, you came here to “Deliver your content to the world”, so without further adieu, let’s get to it.

ENCODING OPTIONS

The Upload button will allow you to upload a .flv file you have already encoded on your computer for immediate distribution across our worldwide server network. This is the option to choose if you are willing to take a stay a little longer and receive the best possible result or if you are using the Mac OS. We encourage this option if you are using long form content such as Features, or if you are publishing your material for playback in High Definition. For convenience, we advise you use the free Adobe Media encoder available on their site. The address is http:// www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/flashmediaencoder/

You need enter a synopsis and tile for your content, but we also advise that you take the time to upload and create a unique icon for your content as well. Whether you use a production still, a screengrab of the title graphics or any other media file, just be sure you crop it to fit within the size limits suggested in the help balloons. Now you just have to select a category for your content and click “send” to finalise your upload. There you have it. You can now sit back, relax and wait as your content is replicated across our worldwide content delivery network. Before you know it you’ll be receiving hits from all corners of the globe. With V-Play you really have delivered your content to the World.

Preferred Settings? Since encoding yourself can sometimes be a little tricky, we have provided a guide for you to get the best possible results. As V-Play utilises bandwidth detection for playback on all videos, we advise that you encode to the highest possible quality available. The settings we use for the best possible results are:

Encoder – On2 VP6 @ 900kbps Video

The Encode button will utilise our in-browser encoder and uploader, powered by On2. This is great if you just want to get your uncompressed QuickTime file up online, without any hassle and without any stress... but it only works with PC. Sorry Mac users.

Once you have uploaded your file, there are a couple of final things to do before you go live.

Frame rate – Same as source. Size – Same as source. Encoder - Mpeg 3 @128kbps.
