Our students enjoy a range of activities throughout the year, from Freshers’ Week in September, through to fundraising activities for Help for Heroes, Comic Relief and Oxfam. The College has a Student Council which provides feedback on all areas of College life; students are encouraged to play an active part in the Council. Two student Governors are also voted in each year by current students and represent students’ views on the College’s main decision making Governing Body. You can take advantage of trips, visits and guest speakers which are organised as part of your course; for example Visual Merchandising

students will travel to New York, enjoy visits to London galleries and organise their own Degree show, which usually takes place at a venue in Liverpool, and is open to the public. Samantha Lythgoe Before Hugh Baird: Completing other qualifications Course: Certificate in Education

I came to Hugh Baird to study HE because I’d had positive experiences here previously. It provided a good environment to learn in. As I have Cerebral Palsy, I receive support from my Additional Support Lecturer. I’ve received excellent support from Learner Support staff and the team of care assistants. This has allowed me to continue my studies towards achieving my goal of becoming a qualified teacher. Without the assistance of the Learner Support team, I don’t think that I would have been able to attend college and would not have achieved as much as I have so far.
