Shropshire Warriors

S

hropshire Warriors Basketball Club is one of Shropshire Telford and Wrekin’s largest and most successful sporting organisations. Over the course of the 13 years since its foundation, the scale of the Club’s programme and the size of its membership have grown annually to a point where there are more than 200 members and 14 competitive teams across all age groups. The club is Clubmark Accredited by England Basketball and is one of a very small number of Clubs to have been awarded 4 Star Club status. The club has also won a number of prestigious awards. The Club’s ever expanding programme caters for all ages and for both sexes, training at Telford College of Art and Technology’s well equipped sports arena. The Warriors’ youngest members are those boys and girls in its Micros and Minis section catering for children from ages 4 to 11 years. The Warriors’ Junior section offers weekly development squad coaching to youngsters in U13, 14, 15, 16 and 18 age categories and teams drawn from those development squads compete in Regional or National Leagues. For adults, the Club runs one women’s team and three men’s teams. These teams play on a weekly basis in the West Midlands league Championships. Both the Women’s team and the Senior A team have been West Midlands Champions in the last four years. The Club’s flagship team is its England Basketball League Division 3 men’s team. Like all the Club’s other teams it trains and plays its home matches in the state of the art Sport TCAT Arena, which is one of English Basketball’s premier indoor facilities.
