Born in England, of a Hong Kong father and English mother, Paula moved to Hong Kong in 1994, after an invitation to a Hebe Haven member’s wedding showed her what she was missing! As a member of Hebe for over 15 years, she has taken an active part in club life and events, from helping with the Hebe Race week, to learning to sail a dinghy with WOW and currently organising the 2016, 24-hour race. Paula is a member of the Power Boat Working Group. Professionally, Paula is the Chief Operating Officer of an international recruitment company. Prior to her current position, Paula held a number of front and back office management roles in insurance, most recently specialising in marine insurance.
Paula KING General Committee Member GenCom
In her ‘spare’ time, Paula is a mother of two teenagers who learned and continue to sail at Hebe, the partner of a yachtie and power boater and the Club Secretary of the Sai Kung Stingrays Rugby Club, where amongst other things she has organised numerous successful events from small gatherings to 500+ people parties. Paula aims to put her management, operational and organisational skills to use behind the scenes, to ensure that operationally we can support, manage and administer sail training opportunities, development and growth with a member-centric focus. This can only be done by ensuring that the Club’s operations are up to date, scalable and sustainable.
I have been a member of Hebe Haven for four years and own and operate a motorboat that is moored at the Club. I am at the Club most days when I am not away flying as a corporate pilot. I have, over the past 25 years, had extensive management experience in club and corporate affairs, having run both casinos and an aviation company. Since joining the Club, my wife has sat on the F&B committee, we have both contributed to the 24-hour race in various capacities and I am a regular volunteer for Sailability.

My goal is to see Hebe Haven return to its core values, and for us as members to realise the spirit of those values. I would like to see this returned to a club FOR the members by members, one that members want to go to over other venues, to eat, drink, socialise and most importantly of all, enjoy the boating lifestyle and all that Hebe Haven Yacht club has to offer. In order to do that, I feel we need to tackle issues with a mature outlook without any self serving agendas. People elected by the members to sit on Gencom should be there FOR the members with the best interest of the club and its members at heart. Decisions that need to be made, need to be made timorously so as to serve the best interest of the members. It is my objective to be part of a Gencom that can achieve this in harmony with all departments.
Having joined HHYC in 2010, Eddy was elected to Gen Com in 2015. Holding a Pleasure Vessel Operators Licence Grade 2 and being the owner of a 43' motor boat, Eddy is a typical energetic sports and boating enthusiast who appreciates the desire of Club members to explore and to experience adventure through boating. Eddy is also a motor boat leader and 24hr Charity Dinghy Race Committee Member.
Eddy LO General Committee Member GenCom
As Junior Police Call Honorary President and meeting the younger generation on a regular basis, Eddy wishes to promote boating and the Club in the capacity of a Gen Com member, not only to adults but also to children and join more charity events to promote the Club.
Within six months after leaving the UK for Hong Kong in 1992, I had decided that Hong Kong was the place for me. Over the past 24 years, the Club has been an important part of my family life: my children have grown up here learning how to sail and my son worked as part of the Sail Training Centre team. My wife Karen and I enjoy participating in the Club’s many events.

I have been on the General Committee and the Operations Committee since 2013. Over the past year, I have chaired the Working Group responsible for overseeing the design and construction of the new Club boat. The build is progressing beautifully and we hope to take delivery before the end of the year. Now that we have renewed our Government lease, the Club has a great opportunity to improve our marine facilities with new equipment, immediate repairs and improvements to fixed berths and swing moorings. I believe that my background of thirty years in the aircraft engineering industry, combined with my experience as a powerboat owner, would allow me to assist the Club in the Marine Operations department. I also feel that I could greatly contribute to and act as a liaison for our Member’s concerns and suggestions.
