Van Alstyne officers arrived and assisted in handcuffing and detaining Harrell, but Harrell continued resisting, spitting in the face of one officer and causing an officer to fall to the ground, breaking one of his ribs. Harrell told the arresting officer he would find him when he got out of jail.

Harrell, once subdued in the police vehicle began to try and kick the windows out.

Harrell was booked into the Grayson County Jail on two counts of Assault on a Peace Officer, Retaliation, and Resisting Arrest. Police say that alcohol was involved and that no other charges resulted from the original call to the residence.

Sid Miller to speak to Grayson County Conservatives Tuesday

The Grayson County Conservatives will host an event Tuesday at 903 Brewers in Sherman at 6:30 pm. The featured speaker is Texas Commissioner of Agriculture Sid Miller who has served in that position since 2015.

Born in De Leon, in Comanche County, in September 1955, Sid Miller graduated with honors from Tarleton State University in Stephenville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Ag Education.

A recognized community leader, Miller was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2000. He quickly earned a reputation as a staunch defender of Texas agriculture, constitutional freedoms and individual liberties for all Texans.

He was elected statewide as the 12th Texas Agriculture Commissioner in 2014, and re-elected to his second term in office in 2018.

Since taking office as Agriculture Commissioner, Commissioner Miller has brought real, common sense reform to TDA. Within six months in office, he eliminated a two-and-a-halfyear backlog in organic certifications. He reshaped field operations to maximize efficiency for Texas taxpayers. This included increasing the number of consumer protection inspections by as much as 183 percent while slashing

the miles traveled by TDA inspectors by more than half a million miles a year.

The opening speaker will be Grayson Publishing LLC owner Monte Walker who also serves as the Director of Economic Development for the City of Howe. He began both of those ventures in 2014. Walker is a fifthgeneration Grayson County citizen. Walker was asked to speak on the topic of “Truth in Media” which has been more and more difficult to determine in today’s age.

Walker is the grandson of Bob Walker who graduated from Van Alstyne High School in 1948, began his news career with the Van Alstyne Leader that same year. After becoming the managing editor of the Nocona News, he purchased the Howe Enterprise in 1966 and moved his family back to Grayson County.

The Howe Enterprise received the Press Club of Dallas’ Hugh Aynesworth Award for Excellence in Journalism in both 2017 and 2018. The Enterprise is noted as one of the only news publications in America that front-page headlined possible fraud in the Nov.2020 presidential election. The Enterprise also was one of the only publications to give factual information on the attempt by the DNC to frame Donald Trump with Russia.
