Howe’s 36th Annual Founders Day turned out to be one of the first scorching Texas heat days which contributed to lower attendance than normal as the day went on.

The Howe Area Chamber of Commerce, who hosts the event each year, believes that having the downtown festival is important. The event was sponsored by 903 Brewers and the chamber sold their products which were a popular addition to the festival.
Wall Street Winery was also present as folks could sip a glass of wine during the event.
Food vendors did well with hot dogs and tacos. But perhaps the busiest attraction was the trackless train which has become a staple for Founders Day.
Albert Bravo was the winner of the hot dog eating contest. Bravo made the trip from Garland just for the event and people found out quickly that he was highly experienced. He ate 10 complete hot dogs with the bun in less than 10 minutes to take the $50 first place prize. Terry Ulmer of Howe won second place.
