She’s also the sponsor of the National Honor Society which involves students being active in service activities such as cleaning up the bleachers after football games. They also are hosting the annual Veterans Day Program on November 11 at Howe High School at 9 am.

She’s been at Howe ISD for her entire career which spans seven years. Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, she moved to Celina, Texas in high school and received her degree from Abilene Christian University before landing the position at Howe.

She’s always wanted to be a teacher and loves the “lightbulb moment” when the kids understand the teachings.

She says the students are the ones that keep her going.

“I love cheering them on when things are tough or cheering them on through the good news,” said McCall.

Her former varsity cheer coach and math teacher in high school inspired her to be enthusiastic about teaching math.

“She made us really excited about math and gave us a passion for it,” said McCall who says her former teacher would write a cheer specific for each test to help them with learning.
