A sharp change in weather conditions on Lake Chickamauga for the Kayak Fishing League National Championship matchup between The Lonestar Bandits and The Massachusetts Maulers may not have been welcomed by the anglers, but both teams were eager to start the day regardless of rain, fog and virtually no wind or current.

The Maulers were off to an early lead with the Bandits experiencing a “late day bite.” With 20 minutes left in the game, the Bandits came within a single fish of winning the championship. It gave evidence of just how evenly matched the two teams were going into the game. The Bandits want to congratulate the Maulers for their victory in the first ever KFL – Kayak Fishing League championship matchup.

The Bandits wasted no time turning their attention toward 2022. Two anglers have been added to the roster, Caleb Helbig of Conroe and John Mooney of Garrison. Both men were named KFL ALL-PROS for 2021 with Mooney was ranked eighth and Helbig ranked tenth on the KFL scoring list. In addition, the Bandits are pleased to announce that Kristopher Delgado, known as Texas Slim, has accepted a position as Team Promoter. Texas Slim is a living legend when it comes to social media and will no doubt propel the Bandits to the forefront of Texas Kayak Fishing.

The Lonestar Bandits would like to express gratitude to their fans for the encouragement they received throughout the 2021 season. Team members Jerod Brockelman of Howe, Jason Campbell of Honey Grove, Deric Miller of South Lake, Jim Louviere of Keller (team owner/ captain), Cliff Allen of Wylie, Bryan Howell of Rowlett and Jeff Isham of College Station are thankful for the opportunity to represent Texas on the national scene. Each of these anglers are actively competing in individual events in addition to the KFL team.
