in 2002-03, the Howe girls only missed the playoffs in 2008-09 and 2009-10. Howe is currently enjoying 10-straight seasons in post-season play, however, that streak has been snapped this season as Howe won just their third district game compared to nine losses after a heavy graduation and rebuilding year.
Against Bonham, Howe jumped out to a large first quarter lead of 25-7 even without starter Trinity Williams who was out with a knee injury and without Sierra Copeland, all but :56 seconds in the first due to foul trouble. The Lady Bulldogs continued to add to the lead and took a 36-11 lead into the half as freshman guard Kendall Griffin and senior guard Katie Grogan took up the scoring slack. On Wednesday, Howe played a makeup game with Whitewright (16-4, 7-4) at home. The result was a 55-28 win for the Lady Tigers as they finished with a 14-1 fourth quarter. Howe was led by Grogan’s nine points followed by Copeland’s eight. Other scorers were Sanders (6), Avery Snapp (3), and Griffin (1).
On Friday, the result was not any prettier as a very good Gunter team (20-5, 12-0) came to Howe High School and walked away with a 63-26 win. The first quarter was tight as Gunter led 12-11 initially. But a 26-5 run in the second buried Howe. Copeland finished with 11 points and three rebounds. Other scorers were Griffin (6), Emory Snapp (5), Grogan (3), and Stubblefield (1).
Howe will close out the season this week by traveling to Blue Ridge on Tuesday and hosting Bells on Friday.

The Dogs learned after the game that district leading Pottsboro was defeated by Bonham and Bells beat Whitewright to thrust Howe from the fourth seed to the third seed.
Howe will play at Blue Ridge (167, 6-4) on Tuesday, travel to Pottsboro (14-3, 7-2) on Wednesday at 5 pm for a makeup game. Then Howe will host Bells (15-3, 8-2) on Friday.
Howe outscored Bonham, 23-9 in the third and things slowed to a defensive crawl in the fourth to finish out the 62-24 win for Howe.
Copeland finished the game with a team-leading 16 points and eight rebounds. She was followed in scoring by Grogan (13), Griffin (10), Teagan Stubblefield (9), Landery Sanders (5), Avery Snapp (5), Emory Snapp (3), and Matalee Stewart (1).
