THF contributes $5K
Last week, the City of Howe received some great news when they were notified that the Texoma Health Foundation has contributed $5,000 to the Memorial Park renovation project. Due to the grant to be written in matching funds, the $5,000 effectively is $10,000 in funding. Businesses around the area have contributed heavily including Baker Air Conditioning & Heating who were the first to offer up $1,000 and challenge other businesses. Provider Business Partners responded with $1,000, Scoggins Funeral Home committed to $1,000, the Howe Area Chamber of Commerce committed $2,000, Howe Mercantile committed to $500, and Amanda Garner CPA donated $250.

Typically, on any year that ends in a five or a zero, flocks of alumnus would be flying home for the big all-school reunion. But thanks to the wonderful gift of COVID, the event was rescheduled for next year’s homecoming. However, this week still remains all-things black and white for a celebration of ol’ Howe High.
While no outside visitors are allowed at this year’s homecoming pep rally, the queen and king nominees have been announced. For the queens, the contestants are Erin Catching, Sierra Copeland, Hannah Dwyer, Gracie Lankford, and Brooke Robinson. For the kings, the nominees are Jackson Adkins, Noah Campbell, Jake Fabacher, Jordan Jones, and Braeden Wise.

Howe faced their former offensive coordinator in Bells Friday night as Dale West, the head coach of the Panthers, ran their slot-T to perfection against Howe. But not only that, the defense of Bells was stingy as well allowing the Dogs only 195 yards of total offense. If not for an overwhelming amount of penalty yards called on Bells, they would have to think that Friday went as smoothly as they could imagine.
Howe played without last season’s 1,000-yard rusher Jalen Thornton as he developed a shoulder injury. And by halftime, Howe was without their sophomore signal-caller Austin Haley who took a precautionary trip to the locker room as he was sacked six times on the night, all in the first half and 14 times so far in each of the first two games.

Howe was unable to get much going offensively thanks to an enormous amount of pressure from Panther defensive end Cooper Smith who tallied four sacks and eight tackles on the night. The 300 pound nose guard
