The promoters of the State Fair of Texas were voting on their favorite vendor booths on Thursday night. Don's Smokehouse of Howe was selected as the winner of the "People's Choice Award" and given a check for $500 They were also the only food winner as the rest were wineries

This is the third year in a row that Don's Smokehouse has had a presence in the GO TEXAN pavilion

"It's our biggest event of the year and it's big exposure for us," said Steve Davis, owner of Don's Smokehouse "We get a huge push of online sales and we're still getting online orders from the previous years we've been there "

The local company has a large online sales position of 16 types of beef jerky, four products of summer sausage, beef sticks and two kinds of smoked cheeses at donssmokehouse com

"All online sales include free shipping and we introduced our Jerky of the Month Club which is something that's growing It includes free stuff," said Davis

0) took advantage of every opportunity Friday night in Bonham against the Warriors (1-4; 0-1) The Bulldogs took home an impressive 66-27 win and snapped a 6-game district losing streak and an 11-game road district losing streak They did so by amassing 594 total yards which is the most in five years (618 against Tom Bean in 2014) Howe's 66 points is also the most since scoring 77 on Tom Bean in 2015 Most of the scoring on Friday night was done by Jalen Thornton who rushed for four touchdowns on the night including a 54-yarder and a 77-yarder

Freshman quarterback Austin Haley threw for another three touchdowns en route to a 10-for-17 performance for 301 yards

Bonham began the game with the ball and were quickly turned away by the Bulldog defense Howe's first drive was an impressive 11play, 78-yard drive that included a key 43-yard pass from Haley to Caiden Harmon The Harmon reception set up a would-be 1-yard touchdown by Thornton on a direct snap Kevin Flores' PAT was the first of nine successful attempts and Howe led 7-0 with 7:28 left in the first quarter

Pressure from freshman Matthew Bearden caused a fumble which was recovered by Arturo Lowder to give Howe great field position at the Bonham 26 yard line. After a 24-yard run by Brandon Williams, Thornton slid in on a direct snap for a 2-yard touchdown Howe led 14-0 with 6:04 left in the first Bonham's next possession also ended in a fumble when Jackson Adkins stripped freshman running back Jarren Ross Thornton recovered it to give Howe the ball at the Bonham 46-yard line One play later, Haley threw his first touchdown of the night when he found a wide open Williams who slipped out of the backfield Howe led 21-0 with 4:38 remaining in the first quarter

Both teams traded punts before Howe forced a turnover-on-downs with 17 seconds left in the first quarter That gave the ball to Howe at their own 42 yard line One play later, Haley threw a screen pass to Harmon who took advantage of a Steven Waldrip block which sprung him for a 58-yard score

Howe improved their lead to 28-0 with five seconds left in the first Linebacker Noah Campbell made an outstanding play on Bonham's ensuing drive on fourth down give Howe the ball at their own 27 yard line But the Dogs quickly scored again with Haley hitting Jordan Jones on a wide open slant that went for 73 yards Howe's lead increased to 35-0 with 9:16 left in the second quarter

Bonham's offense finally got on track by going 55 yards on seven plays and scoring on a quarterback plunge by Brant Stuber from the 1 yard line Howe's lead was cut to 35-7 with 6:02 left in the second Howe's next possession ended in a Thornton punt which set up a 7play drive for Bonham. Facing a fourth down, Warriors Head Coach John Fish opted to attempt a 32yard field goal, but Nick Rhinehart's attempt was no good With 1:23 remaining on the first half clock, Howe moved 71 yards down to the Bonham 9 yard line but were unable to punch it in as time ran out.

It took Howe no time to score in the second half as they opened with the ball at the 25 yard line On the first play, Thornton raced 75 yards for the score to up the Howe advantage to 42-7

Both teams traded punts before Harmon intercepted a Stuber pass in the endzone Howe had to punt, and the Warriors continued to move the ball with a 7-play, 45yard drive that ended on a -yard pass from Stuber to Elliott Ross Howe's lead was cut to 42-14 with 3:43 left in the third quarter

The Warriors continued to tick away at Howe and Jerrell Steward scored on a reverse for a 34-yard score That made it a 3-score game at 42-21 with 37 second left in the third

But Howe quickly pushed the lead back up when Thornton went 54yards on the first play to give Howe a 49-21 lead with 13 seconds left in the third Howe's next points came on a 30-yard Flores field goal to cap off a 7-
