Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced Wednesday he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $876 8 million in local sales tax allocations for August, 4 percent more than in August 2018 These allocations are based on sales made in June by businesses that report tax monthly and on sales made in April, May and June by quarterly filers

Of that amount, $33,198 16 will be sent to Howe The number is an increase of over $2,000 from the previous month but is down from August 2019 by $400 This is attributed to the loss of Magni-Fab Southwest as their plant closed in April

Dorchester ceremony with a speech detailing the history of how the process of building a new school came together When it was announced that the City of Howe had pushed through a deal for 113 new homes to be built in Summit Hill in the summer of 2016, the school immediately did a demographics study that fall to get an idea of what that would do to the enrollment versus how much floor space they had for that amount of students

"After we received the projections we knew immediately that we were going to have to take action," said Wilson "We formed a facility committee which later turned into a PAC (political action committee) and they did an outstanding job of explaining the benefits "

Wilson publicly thanked members of the school board who worked on the project as well as Corgan

Architecture and Gallagher

Construction He also mentioned Summit Hill Elementary School Principal Clarissia Doty who he says made hundreds of thousands of decisions regarding the campus

"But this is kind of like church It's not about the building - It's about the people," said Wilson "Don't misunderstand, we're really proud of this building, but we're more proud of our outstanding staff and students "

School Board President Clint Catching also said a few words and thanked former board president Greg Akins for his dedication to the building process
