She surpassed her uncle Charles Thompson who also served 37 years with 24 of those served as superintendent until his retirement in 1972 He held positions of teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent
Thompson attended Howe schools from first grade through high school He graduated in 1928 from HHS and then obtained a bachelors degree at Baylor University in 1933 and a masters degree at North Texas State University in 1950 Thompson also attended Austin College and Trinity University
Organizations of which he was a member included the National Education Association, Texas State Teachers Association, and Grayson County unit of the TSTA, serving as president of this organization

Thompson was a member of the American Association of School Administration and Texas Association of School Board

Administrators
Wyline Pool taught in Howe for 27 years from 1945-1972 She served six years as a classroom teacher and 21 years as a principal
She received her bachelors degree at East Texas State Teacher's University at Commerce and a Master of Education from North Texas State University in Denton She was a member of the Texas State Teachers Associatioin and served as vice-president and president of the Grayson County unit of TSTA and one year as secretary of District TSTA
She was the daughter of WB Wheeler (also pictured in the mural) who served as Howe superintendent for 11 years
There were many educators that played enormous roles in Howe ISD that were deserving who were left off only due to space

The goal was to honor educators, not leave anyone out
