The Lady Bulldogs continue to play good softball as they were able to nab two close victories last week over Whitewright and Lone Oak. The girls finished the week in first place and sit with a 13-10 overall record
On Tuesday, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Whitewright and came out with a nail-biting 4-2 win in that was a one-run game heading into the final frame

Each team scored a run in the first inning, but Howe pitcher Torrey Stubblefield was masterful in shutting down the Lady Tigers and not allowing a rally of any sorts Stubblefield went all seven innings, allowing two earned runs on only five hits, striking out 11 and walking three
Payton Griffin did damage at the plate by crushing a homer in the second inning to left center to break the 1-1 tie Griffin also added a double for good measure and finished the day 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored
Peyton Streetman also had a multihit game as she went 2-for-3 with a double and a single, an RBI and a run scored
Howe's final run came in the final inning as Streetman walked and scored on a Stubblefield RBI double to left center
On Thursday, Howe hosted Lone Oak and quickly fell behind 2-0 in the first inning as the Lady Buffaloes led off the game with back-to-back singles against Stubblefield But the senior pitcher who just committed to Tarleton
State was able to get two strikeouts in the inning to put out the fire
The Lady Bulldogs answered right back in the bottom of the first inning with three runs of their own as Erin Blackburn led off with a single, followed by a double by Streetman, and a triple by Stubblefield
Lone Oak scored put a 3-spot on the board in the top of the third inning thanks to a costly error that was responsible for three unearned runs Howe trailed 5-3 heading to the bottom of the inning and scratched a run back when Griffin singled and later scored on an error
The Lady Bulldogs turned the game around in the bottom of the fourth inning when Cassidy Anderson scored Blackburn on a single that tied the game at five Anderson then scored on a double by Stubblefield which gave Howe the lead at 6-5
Stubblefield then put it in hammer mode and allowed only three hits over the final three innings She was outstanding in her 109 pitch performance as she went all seven innings, allowing no earned runs on six hits, striking out nine and walking one
She also helped herself out at the plate by going 2-for-4 with a double, triple, two RBI and run scored Anderson also had a big day at the plate going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI on a single and a double Blackburn also had a multi-hit game going 2for-3 with a run scored
