"We went every night and we saw the sights and enjoyed ourselves," said Carroll

They went to concerts each day and made their way to the same spot near the stage each day, just left of the stage with the gorgeous backdrop of their hotel in sight

"We saw Eric Church the first night and we were pretty close to the stage We saw Sam Hunt the next night and we were really close," said Carroll

It was Sunday night that the rain of terror dropped from the Vegas skies and the two Howe ladies had nearly skipped out because they were not the biggest fans of Jason Aldean

"I wanted to see Jake Owen which was between Big & Rich and Jason Aldean," said Carroll "But we kept moving closer and closer to the stage so we decided to stay"

The two had nothing to eat or drink since lunch on Sunday and neither dared to give up their space that close to go to the stage to go to the restroom With the last show to go, the ladies were loving the Jason Aldean performance and Ross even recorded the fourth song on her iPhone

"He then said, 'we're going to crank it up a notch on this next song' and that's when we heard, pop pop pop pop pop," said Carroll "And it paused and we looked and again, pop pop pop pop He was still singing But by the third time it does that, after the pause, you could tell he looks up and looks concerned and that's when he leaves "

At that time the stage lights were turned off and the floodlights were turned on

"That's when everyone said, 'get down' so we first started running and then everyone just piled down on the ground to take cover," said Carroll "It's 22,000 people so you're just laying on people "

Ross said that they initially thought it was a drive-by and that it would be over quickly, but then it became so loud and unbearable that they thought it might be coming from overhead
