Continued from page 1 new baby in the family Just last week, Hudson was informed by head varsity basketball coach Tim Short that he'd be leaving to go back to Pottsboro where he spent the majority of his coaching career Short said that it also was for family reasons with his mother being in her 80s in Pottsboro

Hudson is not just the football coach, but also the athletic director, therefore, he says it's not just football coaches he looks to stockpile He feels he has assembled as good of a coaching staff for a small Texas school one could imagine

With all of the change and so many coaches leaving Howe, rumors spread like wildfire that Hudson must be hard to work for

"Absolutely I'm hard to work for" said Hudson "That's not the case here why we had so much turnover, but I do have high expectations of coaches I'm not going to settle for someone who goes out there with kids and just watches them So there are going to be frustrations with people that I'm going to run into from time to time I don't hire coaches to be babysitters I want to hire coaches that have high expectations for our kids and will coach our kids and teach our kids "

Hudson says it was mostly circumstances unrelated to coaching entirely that led to the shake up

Hudson was referring in part to Heath Grant having a baby that needs special care Grant is seeking a teaching position only to have more family time

"I like having Coach Grant around " said Hudson "I like him around so right now, he's going to be at our middle school which gives them a really good coach

"Dale (West) got a head coaching job That's a no-brainer for him to take Then we had one or two guys that did have personality differences, but then there were a lot of circumstances not related to coaching "

Hudson also said that he knew he'd be losing Rhoten "When I hired him two years ago, I knew this was going to be his last year He wanted to see his daughter graduate from here He didn't have to move from his house when we hired him and me and him kind of became friends when he was in Whitewright His family wanted to be here and it was an easy choice, but I knew that he was gone the minute I hired him "

Short, the varsity basketball coach turned in his resignation last Monday and told the Enterprise, "I've really enjoyed my time at Howe It’s a wonderful school district Coach Hudson and Kevin
