Blum, the ag teacher, also told Abner that she would be there to help, but made it clear that it was Abner's project
"I don't want to take all of the credit for it because I wouldn't have been able to do it without everybody else " said Abner "But way deep down, I knew that I was the one who had to make it happen and it was a really good feeling "
FFA has been Abner's life to this point. Her sister was not only valedictorian, but also involved in FFA since she was in first grade She is majoring in Animal Science at Texas A&M and Mati will join her in the same field and will actually room together in college

"I guess you could say it's what shapes our family and why we're close." said Abner. "I grew up in the pig barn and that's just what we do My dad (Mark, a school board member and Ag Business major), is now partners with a breeder Josh Vincent and that's carrying on I'm going to be out of high school soon and done showing, but we'll never lose our roots "
Abner joked that when she's done with college and settles with a family, her kids will be speaking and showing pigs by third grade

She plans on working in the agriculture industry and understands that it will be difficult to be in that business and live in Howe

But even after graduation this May, Abner will still be coordinating this "Show with a Heart" event at Loy Lake for 2018
"I'm not going to let it go quite yet so I plan to do it from a distance but my plan is to get a committee created to help me " said Abner "This year I had the idea of a committee, but I didn't know what I was doing It was day-by-day But next year, I plan to have a committee of high school students and I'll be doing it from afar. The plans are for it to be a whole day next year instead of two hours "
