Ginny Phelps, 1944-2017
Virginia Sue Daniel Phelps, our cherished mother, amazing Mimi, teacher, daughter, sister and friend, went home to be with the Lord on March 6th, 2017 at her daughters home in Sherman, Texas Born November 3, 1944, to Pete and Linda Daniel, she was a graduate of Sunset High School, and the University of North Texas She moved to Chandler where she and her family were quickly embraced by the United Methodist Church family and got involved teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir Years later, she continued her journey to Chandler First Assembly where she taught and helped in the nursery, Missionettes, Sunday School and Kids Ministry, and she touched may lives She loved to teach She taught at Chandler Elementary and Chandler Intermediate School and retired after 35 years of teaching and became a member of Delta Kappa Gamma (for retired teachers) After she retired, she substituted in various schools as often as she could she loved to teach! She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July of 2014 and continued as a substitute teacher until November of 2016 Teaching and her love of friends, family and the Lord were her driving forces in life She loved her teaching buddies and her kids Ginny is preceded in death by; her parents, Pete and Linda Daniel, her brother Pete Daniel Jr., her sister and brother-in-law Steve and Barbara Brinick and her brotherin-law Charles Goode Ginny is survived by; her son, Brian and wife Sherry Phelps and daughter, Heather and husband Wallace Rains; grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah & Karah Rains Frodo, Bristol, Rylie, Boogie and Misty, her grand animals whom she loved very much Her siblings; Linda Goode and Ted & Janet Daniel, many precious nieces, nephews and cousins and many family and friends

She requests that school supplies be donated in her honor to Chandler Elementary (615 Broad Street, Chandler, Tx) and Chandler Intermediate School (22250 Barron Drive, Chandler, Tx) to help those children in need each year
A Memorial service was held on March 11, 2017, at Chandler First Assembly at 840 Broad Street, Chandler, Texas Visitation was at 10 am and Memorial at 11am She was laid to rest at Laurel Land in Oak Cliff, Tx with a private burial

The Howe varsity boys track team finished with 163 5 points to win the Bells track meet The girls finished with 160 points to also take first place
Mason Riggs again won the 100 meters with a time of 11 13 Brent Masters took third with 11 26 Masters also finished second in the 200 meters at 24 15 Hunter Cheatham took second in the 800 meters while in the 3200 meters, Howe had three place - Logan Elvington (third), Brice Honaker (fourth), and Mike Helpenstell (fifth) Chase Clayton took first in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16 31 while Landry Elvington finished third (18 02) Clayton finished fifth in the 300 meter hurdles (44 15)
In the relays, Tanner Hartsfield, Brandon Wall, Cameron Blesi, and Riggs finished second in the 4x100 with a time of 45 05 Howe finished third in the 4x200 relay with the same group with Ty Harvey replacing Hartsfield The Dogs finished third in the 4x400 meter relay with Dawson

Harvey finished second in the long jump (19'-2") Matt Griffin placed first in the discus (118'-8") while Clay Marshall finished second (117'-2") McDonald won the triple jump (43'-4,1/2"), Ty Harvey won the high jump at 5'-10" while Ryan Carney placed fifth (5'-2") Zimry Weatherspoon finished second in the pole vault (12'-0")
The girls were equally as impressive as Bethan Masters and Erin Blackburn were top two pointgetters in the meet with 36 and 31, respectively Blackburn won the 100 meters with a time of 12 84 while Madisyn Hargrove finished fourth at 13.53. Kamryn Fulenchek placed fourth in the 200 meters (29 42) and Emily Sanders finished in fifth (29 46) In the 400 meters, Howe's Jamie Taylor placed third at 1:07.05.
