The Howe Bulldogs' 5th and 6th grade team came up one game short of the Super Bowl in a 12-6 loss to the Bells who is the number one ranked team in the Red River league

Trailing 12-6 with just over six minutes left, the Bulldogs started a drive that would take the remaining time off of the clock Quarterback

A J Haley threw a pass that sailed mere inches from the outstretched arms of receiver Ryan Hough who had beat his defender deep down the field The catch would have tied the game with seconds left, but the pass fell incomplete One last heave to Cooper Jones fell incomplete and Bells escaped with the win

Howe's Carson Daniels threw a halfback pass to Cooper Jones for Howe's lone score of the afternoon as the Bells defensive line blitzed and have Howe's offensive line fits all day Haley and Hough, who connected on numerous touchdowns throughout the year were unable to connect but twice due to the pressure from the Panther defense

This was a hard-hitting slug fest which saw several Howe and Bells players banged up Howe was without slot back and linebacker Jacob Campbell to a broken arm prior to the game. At one point in the game, Howe was without Jones, Campbell, Tate Harvey and Marshall Larsen who were all banged up

The coaches Michael Portman, Monte Walker and Thomas Troxtell wish to express their gratitude to all of the parents for their outstanding cooperation this season They had an emotional talk with the team after the game

1st and 2nd grade bow out of playoffs, 26-23 to S&S

The K-2nd grade Howe Bulldogs traveled to Leonard to play the S&S Rams in the second round of the playoffs on Saturday The Bulldogs started off strong with a touchdown by Kendall O'Brien and another scored by Riken Cross At half time the Bulldogs were tied 13-13

In the second half, the Rams scored two touchdowns and won 26-13

Howe 3rd and 4th go leaping into Super Bowl

The Bulldogs lost but had a grea season with a 5-3 record The defense was led by Buttery, Charles Fuhr, Samantha Fuhr, an Noah Fox Offense led by Emerson Stephens, Kendall O'Brien, and Riken Cross

The coaches said that they were very proud of the team and what they did this year

The Bulldogs (8-1) matched up with the Blue Ridge Tigers (6-1) in the second round of the playoffs on Saturday in Leonard Howe scored on the first series with quarterback Garren Lankford on a 65-yard scamper to the end zone The Bulldogs would struggle on defense slowing down a good running game by the Tigers The Dogs would score again on their second possession with another Lankford option carry and take a 13-12 lead to the halftime break.

The Bulldogs would make adjustments at the half on defense that would prove to be the game changer in the second half game rotating their front three lineman and bringing pressure off the edges with linebackers

The Dogs would dominate second half play with Lankford scoring his third of the day followed up with tailback Braden Ulmer adding two additional touchdowns Lankford also capped off with a conversion with a nice throw and catch with wide receiver Triston Williams

The 8-1 Bulldogs will play the 8-0 Tom Bean Tomcats for the Red River Super Bowl title at noon this coming Saturday at S&S Rams Stadium
