continued from page 3 doesn't bother me I'm used to kids playing It just kind of morphed into that It wasn't super quiet when I came And I didn't expect it to be super quiet We didn't go around shushing everybody Different things happened, like our area with the toys We had parents that would bring children and the kids were sitting there bored, so we said, “Let's put toys out there ” And sure enough that worked out well And then we had after school programs It was more of an evolution process and I think more than anything, we wanted to make the library welcoming, let people feel good to come in here and hang out for a while And it's not just a place to check out books or use computers, but it is a place to hang out and visit with your buds or do scrapbooking or whatever it is that people want to do But that is how libraries are changing, too People think it's about books only, but it's not It's so much more than that I think, ideally the library should be the hub for the community It should be the information source, and a place where everybody can work out of - a place where everybody knows your name, like the neighborhood bar on the TV sitcom “Cheers ”
