RUIZ 4 KIDS seeks scholarship applicants from 2016 graduates

DENISON, TX (January, 2016): Ruiz 4 Kids Scholarship applications are available online for high school seniors who attend a high school located within a 50-mile radius of Denison, Texas

“The pursuit of higher education for some can feel like an unachievable dream,” explained Cristi Perkins, Ruiz 4 Kids Denison “The Louis F Ruiz Golf Invitational funds the Ruiz 4 Kids Scholarship Program. It serves to help students achieve those dreams. Whether they are planning on attending a two or four year university or an accredited Technical College, with our scholarships we look to help relieve some of the financial stress so that students can place their focus where it is needed most, their education ”

Ruiz 4 Kids, the non-profit organization of Ruiz Food Products, Inc , is based in Dinuba, California The Scholarship Program is available to select high schools in each of the three geographic areas where Ruiz Foods has manufacturing facilities: Dinuba/Tulare, California; Denison, Texas, and Florence, South Carolina According to Perkins, Ruiz 4 Kids receives over 600 scholarship applications each year and review teams comprised of a couple dozen Ruiz Foods team members volunteer to make the selections.

“It has become evident to those of us involved in the review and selection process, that sometimes it isn’t about the actual monetary award,” adds Perkins. “For many of these students, it is the knowledge that those involved in Ruiz 4 Kids and Ruiz Foods believe in them and their ability to accomplish great achievements ”

In the past six years, Ruiz 4 Kids has awarded almost two million dollars in scholarships to hundreds of high school seniors committed to furthering their education

In addition to the financial and emotional boost the award brings,” adds Perkins,

“recipients also receive over $100 in coupons for free product from Ruiz Foods which includes their El Monterey brand burritos, taquitos and quesadillas “Some recipients get just as excited about the food as they do the award Ruiz 4 Kids’ mission is to provide opportunities to inspire hope and change in children’s lives ”

Applicants must have a 2 5 GPA or above to apply if they plan on attending a two-year college or vocational institution. Those who will be attending a four-year college or university must have a GPA of 3.0 or more. This year’s Louis F Ruiz Golf Invitational is scheduled for April 19, 2016 at the Valley Oaks Golf Course in Visalia, California The event attracts support from a wide variety of vendors and suppliers to Ruiz Foods
