Nearly 500 show for Easter community worship
During the ice storms in early March, First Baptist Church Pastor Roger Tidwell of 23 years had some time to think about Easter Sunday service could reach more people. The end result was a community worship service at Howe High School.
The worship service started at 10 am and saw nearly 500 show up for Resurrection Sunday and to hear Tidwell preach in gruesome detail about the torture and eventual death of Jesus Christ on Friday He talked about the confusion of Saturday and happiness of Sunday

Tidwell's first passage read was from 1 Peter 2:21-23 which reads, "To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth "
When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly."
Music Minister Jonathan Coleman led an up-tempo set of mixed songs from traditional and contemporary music including, "This Is Amazing Grace", "Victory In Jesus", "I'll Fly Away", "I Saw The Light", "Jesus Paid It All", "Lamb of God", "This I Believe", "Christ Is Risen", and "Glorious Day."
The special service was about twenty minutes longer than the normal hour.
One year anniversary for Abby's Restaurant


It's been a year now this week since Lillian Avila took a chance on Howe and opened her homestyle cooking restaurant in the downtown district. The building that housed Wyomings Restaurant and then a barbeque restaurant, and most recently, Honeybee's coffee shop, Avila was given little hope by the community to make it one year
