"It's pretty awesome for the Fosters to think of us " said Ron Mitchell "We've been blessed with this opportunity"
Sunday School together so we asked them if they would be interested in it because they would keep it here in Howe and then the town won't be losing the snow cone stand."
The Fosters, who are teachers love to be in the community and being around kids They have servant hearts and they say that missing those smiling faces from the kids when they get their favorite flavor is what they'll miss the most
"We started this to be in Howe and support the city and be around everyone " said former owner Darren Foster "We were able to do this with our kids and do this as a family and with Vanna teaching here, we thought it would be neat and we needed this in Howe "
Foster was also in the teaching field for Sherman ISD before recently changing careers to the insurance business as an agent with Texas Farm Bureau. Now that he will be working each summer, it made sense to the family and their workload to sell the business
"Ron and Audra (Mitchell) had talked to us before and had mentioned that they hasd wanted one forever" said Foster "We're in
"We're extremely excited " said Ron and Audra Mitchell in a phone interview "We want to continue the legacy that they've built in Howe We want to retain all of their customers and we've already had some of them come up to us and let us know what their favorite flavors are "
The Mitchells want to keep the business in Howe but are willing to reach further if the opportunity exists.
They've indicated that they may move from the Denny Street and Davis Street area to the west part of the town around the apartment complex where a lot of kids are riding their skateboards
What kid doesn't like snow cones?"
Audra Mitchell has been a substitute teacher at Howe ISD for some time while Ron works full-time in Dallas for API Systems Group She will handle most of the Chill Out business and work the baseball games in the summer They are also looking to being involved with the softball program also
Just as the Fosters did, the Mitchells will run it as a family business.
"Dawson (13) and Lucas (9) are excited as can be." said Ron.
The Fosters joked about it being a very tight bonding experience with the family in the small building But all joking aside, they felt like it was a great family experience that they'll take with them for the rest of their lives.
"It was sad seeing it pulled off, but it's in good hands." said Darren Foster.
