It's without a doubt that working out is one of the best ways of improving our well-being and that of our pets too.

Taking your dog for a stroll is not only about social connections, but it is also important in many ways both to you and your furry buddy.

Join us in this post as we unpack the benefits of walking your dog, and how often you need to schedule routine walks with them.

What You Need to Walk Your Dog

Walking your dog is not just a matter of stepping out with them for a round stroll around the neighborhood. You need to get the accessories that give you control over your dog and safeguard their presence while out in the streets.

FursnPaws.com recommends that you get a fitting collar and a short leash to give you an edge over your walking

companion during the activity

You should choose a collar that doesn't strain your dog's neck area. If your pooch likes to pull on the leash, or if you have an escape artist, then you can look for a fitting harness to secure them with comfort. If you are going on a nature trail with your canine friend, you can install a GPS tracking collar to give you their real-time location on your smartphone. A tracking tool will make it easier to track down your dog when they slip off your presence and get lost in a vast area.

Additionally, you need to carry along some dog poop bags to clean after your pooch when they need to take a potty break. Responsible pet parenting calls for environmental awareness and hygiene. Lastly, you need to put on a sporty outfit when stepping out for a walk. Lace up your comfy pair of sneakers and wear a light tracksuit to give you the flexibility you need during the activity.

This cuts down the chances of obesity which reduces their risks of acquiring diseases such as cancers, high blood pressure, osteoarthritis, and cardiovascular problems just to mention a few. A study conducted in 2014 has shown that a lack of regular exercise can predispose dogs to acquire various chronic conditions.

2. Provides mental stimulation

Dogs are curious and social animals with the desire to explore and observe their surroundings. Leaving your pooch in the house without actively engaging with them might induce them into destructive behaviors as a sign of stress and anxiety. Walking your furry friend is a good way of opening up their minds to discover new people, new routes, and other pets, and exploring what nature has to offer. This experience cannot be achieved by exercising your dog in your fenced yard, and this provides more reasons why you should take them out instead.

3. Creates a bond

1

The Top 10 Benefits of Walking Your Dog

1. Improves physical health

Walking your dog provides them with an opportunity to get regular physical exercise which improves their health. By making small steps, light jogs, and jumps during the activity, your dog is burning excess calories which helps in maintaining a good and healthy weight.

When spending time walking your dog, you are also improving your emotional connections with them. This is a good chance you have to give them your full attention while leading the pack as you walk across the routes. By fully focusing on your canine companion and spending quality time together, they are likely to drop their attention-seeking behaviors, such as excessive barking, which can be annoying.

4. Improves their joint health

When dogs live an inactive lifestyle for far too long, their joints will tend to weaken and become less functional. This might lead to mobility problems stemming from hip dysplasia and joint-related diseases such as arthritis. keeping your dog's joints in action or low-impact exercise through regular walking is a good way to prevent jointrelated complications.

muscles will be more willing to engage in intense physical activities. They will also be ready to take on new challenges such as participating in nature trails and hiking.

8.

Reduces hyperactivity

Regular walks with your dog expend their pent-up energy making them calm down and reduce hyperactivity after the exercise. This is the energy that could have otherwise been used to engage in destructive activities and restlessness if they had never redirected it to the walk. After getting home, your pooch will have a relaxed body and mind which helps to improve their sleep quality without feeling hyper while in their bed.

5. Improves your dog's digestion

Taking your dog out for their daily stroll can help to regulate their digestive tract and reduces the chances of diarrhea and constipation. The muscles along the digestive tract are stimulated when the dog is walking, and this helps to move the food more efficiently and provides for healthy bowel movements.

6.

It builds their trust and confidence

Regular treks with your dog can help to build trust and confidence, especially if they are timid around people. Walking exposes them to other people with their pets, cars, birds, and many other things which would have ordinarily scared them. But with your guidance, your dog can learn to trust you and become more confident in the presence of others.

7. Grows and builds stronger muscles

Dogs' muscles are built and strengthened by physical activities such as walking and running. Going out with them for a routine stroll in your neighborhood will put all their muscles to work hence realigning and making them stronger. A dog with well-built

5 6 7

9.

Supports training

Stepping out with your canine friend for their routine trekking provides the best time for monitoring their progress in training. It is here that you can see if your pooch has mastered the latest skill that you taught them or if you need to train them some more. For example, you can use this chance to recall your dog from distractions or practice the 'sit and stay' command to gauge their understanding and response time.

10. It is good for you too

Going for routine walks with Fido is not only beneficial for them, but it also gives you some benefits to take home. In fact, you will also claim most of the good things that your walking companion gets. These include improving your heart health, reducing stress, building muscles, improving joint health, socializing with other people, maintaining a healthy weight, etc. Having a loyal walking companion will give you the motivation to continue with the activity more than if you did it all by yourself. Choose a routine that works well for both of you and your dog will always look forward to getting leashed for their upcoming walks.

Don't expose a sick dog to too intense physical activities.

• You can also work it out with your vet for recommendations on how to slot in routine exercises for a sick dog.

Conclusion

• Most of the benefits of walking your dog border on creating a happy, healthy, and social furry friend while strengthening your bond.

• That simple routine stroll along different paths will make all the difference in how well you bring up your pooch. And the other good part is that you will also benefit by engaging your dog in this everyday activity.

• But before you grab that leash, make sure to know your route beforehand and pack your dog's supplies to make the experience fun and memorable. 10

How Often Should I Walk My Dog?

• The duration of walking and how often you take your dog out will depend on several factors such as age, breed, and overall wellbeing.

• If your dog is just starting to go on walks, you should minimize the duration to prevent them from creating a negative association with the experience.

• A healthy small or medium-sized dog can manage between 15 and 30 minutes of daily walks for a start.

• As you progress with consistency, most dogs in good health can handle between 1 and 3 hours of daily walks without breaking a sweat. It is good to stick to a daily plan but if your schedule is tight, you can balance your diary to set aside some time across 5 days of the week.

• Make sure to adjust the duration of the walk to match your dog's health status.

The number one advice I'd give to parent owners is to think before you pawrent, owning a pet is a huge responsibility. The 25th Annual Anniversary Edition of the OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival MIAMI opens at the Silverspot Cinema in Downtown Miami beginning April 20, and stays there for 10 more days.

Internationally acclaimed as one of the largest LGBTQ+ cultural festivals in the world, OUTShine Miami celebrates 25-years of amazing LGBTQ+ programming as well as uniting the community with OUTstanding social events. Through the diversity of showcasing the best in LGBTQ+ films, most of which you can only see at the Festival, OUTshine always aims to inspire, entertain and educate their audience. This year OUTshine will present some 50 plus features, shorts, and documentaries from all around the world.

The OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival will also be maintaining the highly successful OUTshine At-Home programming, it's wellknown amazing, incredible parties and new to this year, a free Cocktails & Cinema Happy Hour after the films on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, making this year's festival the must-see, must-attend event of the year with social gatherings almost every night.

Board Chair/Executive Director Mark Gilbert said that having a new central location downtown, Silverspot Cinema,

makes the festival more accessible to more of the community and gives us a fantastic venue to watch films and hold some amazing after parties. The theater is packed with premium experience amenities such as lounge chairs with armrests to hold your alcoholic beverages and food as you watch. Dolby Atmos audio for an immersive experience in a modern building with an epic view! Located in the heart of downtown right next to some of the best nightlife.

OUTrageous, OUTspoken, and OUTstanding, this year's OUTshine Film Festival Miami is presented by Gilead and Miami-Dade County.

Some of the highlights are:

The opening night film: Fairyland, which is directed by Andrew Durham, has a 114 minute runtimes, and is made in the USA (Narrative, Gay, Family, AIDS , Biography, Based on a Book, Sundance) – Thursday, April 20.

It's the 1970s. following the sudden death of her mother, young Alysia is uprooted by her father Steve, in hopes of restarting his life. They move to San Francisco, where Steve develops his poetic and personal writing and begins to openly date men.

Steve's bohemian lifestyle clashes with the expectations of parenthood from the outside world and from Alysia herself. As Alysia grows into a young woman on the cusp of adulthood, their bonds and duty to each other are tested in painful and sudden ways. In this Sundance standout, Fairyland captures the complexities, embarrassment, and pride that are part of any fatherdaughter relationship, especially in the San Francisco of the '70 and '80, with its indelible legacy of loss and love.

The centerpiece film: L'immensita, which is directed by Emanuele Crialese, has a 97-minute runtime, and is from Italy with englisg subtitles (Narrative, Foreign Film). Thursday, April 27.

It's the 1970s and Rome is a city in transition. Clara and her husband moved into a new apartment, with three children. Stuck in a languid marriage to an unfaithful and abusive husband, Clara focuses her attention on the kids, connecting with them by channeling her own inner child. She relates to 13-year-old Adriana the most. Adriana has begun to identify as a boy, Andrew, and proclaims to his mother that he comes from another galaxy, something that Clara definitely relates to. While Penélope Cruz absolutely shines in the role of Clara, it is newcomer Luana Giuliani who commands the screen in this exuberant relationship story between mother and child, complete with a pop soundtrack and musical numbers.

The closing night film: Three Nights A Week (Trois Nuits par Semaine), which is directed by Florent Gouelou, has a 03 minute runtime, and is ffrom France, with French, Spanish, and English with English subtitles (Narrative, Gay, Drag). Sunday, April 30.

Baptiste first meets drag performer Cookie Kunty on the streets, while volunteering at a public-health clinic alongside his girlfriend, Samia. Trapped in a dead-end retail job while trying to develop his photography portfolio, Baptiste is in search of a subject for his art. But the choice to follow Cookie and document the rituals of the drag world ultimately leads him on a profound journey of self-discovery. Himself a drag performer, Gouëlou takes Baptiste and viewers on a deep dive into the world of drag performance and culture, depicted with loving, joyous accuracy thanks to the contributions of 40 French drag artists at work, both in front of and behind the camera.

Heartstopper Horror with Kit Connor

Kit Connor's had quite a year. The 19-year-old British actor experienced the darker side of internet fandom when he found himself coming out as bisexual after overly entitled internet “fans” with no boundaries demanded that he declare his sexuality or be denounced as baiting queer

at which family members begin dying one by one, and youngest member Connor has to sort out why. Currently shooting in Belfast, the film co-stars '90s “SNL” alum Siobhan Fallon-Hogan and “Game of Thrones” cast member Ian Beattie. Look for it later this year.

'Bottoms' is headed for the top South by Southwest Film Festival has already delivered the premiere of your next queer film obsession. It' s called “Bottoms,” from “Shiva Baby” filmmaker Emma Seligman. It stars Rachel Sennott (“Shiva Baby” and last year's wild “Bodies Bodies Bodies”) alongside “The Bear” breakout star Ayo Edebiri, leading an ensemble cast in a high school comedy about two unpopular teen lesbians – in their own words, shunned for being “ gay, untalented and ugly.” Together they create a huge

Silver lining: then he won his first Emmy award for his role as a bisexual teenager on the wildly popular Netflix series “Heartstopper.” Now the rising star is about to film “One of Us,” a horror mystery from first time writer-director Stefan van de Graaff. lie about starting an afterschool fight club and, well, very strange consequences come to pass, including some actual fighting. Early reports call it a “chaotic” Gen Z moviegoing experience, and that sounds extremely exciting after so many earnest queer stories. Is there a New “New Queer Cinema” on the way, one that dispenses the rules of the past and isn't afraid to get weird? If so, we're ready to fight for it.

Suddenly there's a gay cowboy on the Hallmark Channel Don't sleep on “Ride,” the new western family drama coming to the Hallmark Channel at the end of the month, because it's already a hundred times more queer

country music aspirations (Jake Foy, also a Hallmark movie vet). The Hallmark Channel has been serving up more and more queer content lately — now that they've moved away from their former status as the channel of mediocre entertainment for white, heterosexual audiences — so this might be the time, if you 've been resisting, to jump on board their updated bandwagon.

“Ride” drops March 26.

The queer history of 'The Star Wars Holiday Special' There will never be enough “Star Wars” ancillary content for “Star Wars” fans. Unless, that is, you 're talking about “The Star Wars Holiday Special,” which has garnered more expressions of love/hate than Jar Jar Binks could dream of. A bizarre pop culture footnote that featured the cast of “Star Wars” as well as Bea Arthur and Harvey Korman, it' s become an object of cultlike obsession for fans. So naturally there' s a new

documentary about it called “A Disturbance in The Force,” premiering at this year' s South by Southwest Film Festival. Directed by Jeremy Coon and Steve Kozak, it' s a collection of reminiscences, archival footage, commentary and affectionate mockery from people who grew up with it, including Seth Green, Kevin Smith and Paul Scheer. It also includes people who were there, notably gay contributing screenwriter Bruce Vilanch and the legendary costume designer Bob Mackie, transferring his Cher-dressing talent to space creatures, both of whom added queer flair to the proceedings. This will all make sense if you' re old enough to remember the '70s and the sheer amount of queerness that bubbled over in the era's TV variety specials. And if you're not, then “Disturbance” will guide you into a wild, weird galaxy indeed. Look for it to stream somewhere near you soon.

Nancy Travis (“Last Man Standing”) plays the matriarch of a ranching dynasty with three sons: a rodeo champion (Marcus Rosner, “Unreal” and several Hallmark movies) married to a former trick rider (Tiera Skovbye, “Riverdale”); a military man serving far from home (Beau Mirchoff, “Good Trouble”); and a gay son with

Pounded Puppy It Is Open Season on Cazden Hunter

Cazden Hunter is a well-known name in the adult film industry. In just two years, he has established himself as one of the most in-demand young talents in the biz.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, where he currently resides, Cazden has go-go danced at Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco and Market Days in Chicago. He has also performed for some of the biggest studios including Falcon Studios, Men.com, and perhaps, most memorably, with the fetish site, KinkMen.

Cazden's willingness to be tied up and dominated has made him a favorite with fans. He's also extremely versatile and always up for trying new things, including the latest porn craze, pup play. He says working in the adult industry has made him realize he's kinkier than he thought.

94 | HotspotsMagazine.com

We caught up with him in Las Vegas at the KinkMen studios to discuss his latest film work and his new podcast, Out of the Kennel: Kink, Fetish & Queer Life.

Did you really come out in the tenth grade?

I came out as bi in the sixth grade, but in 10th or 11th grade I came out as gay. I had been only fooling around with boys for a long time and everyone knew. And you always dreamed of being an adult film star? Yes! I thought it was sexy and enticing, and I viewed it as art, too. My first porn crush was on Brent Corrigan. I wanted to top him so bad. At the time, I was too scared to bottom.

What came first: film, go-go-ing, or escorting?

I started go-go dancing first. Then I got into film and it seemed to go hand in hand with escorting, so I started that not too long after.

awkward angles during sex. When did you first get into kink?

My first kink was public play when I was a teen because there was no place for us to fool around. Other than that, it was my second time going to Folsom when I discovered pup play.

What attracted you to pup play?

I was immediately intrigued by it. I already acted like a puppy with my partner at the time, I just didn't know there was a thing for it. I really enjoy building a headspace in which I'm discovering new things. Also, rolling around with other pups is fun and the treats! My favorite treats are Tamarindo candy and berries.

You are Cybersocket's reigning pup of the year! What does that responsibility entail?

I'm not sure! No one told me. But I take it upon myself to be friendly, open,

How did the first film go?

It was a bit surreal and I was a little taken aback at first because it was with a female videographer. Luckily, she was very professional and made me feel comfortable. Still, it was awkward because my scene partner was straight and he seemed uncomfortable working with me. What are the best and worst parts of the job?

Best parts are traveling and meeting new people. I also really like live performances. The worst parts are getting up really early to prep for bottoming and having to hold

approachable, and to be visible and encouraging. I often offer help and advice to people who are curious about the community.

KinkMen.com plans to film more Pup Play scenes. Do you intend to be a part of those productions?

I do and I hope I get to explore and bring my pup experience to the screen. I want to be involved and show pup play in the many ways it can be: pup play by pups, for pups.

How would you describe working with Dominic Pacifico as a Director?

He knows what he wants. You can tell he

HotspotsMagazine.com | 95

has a vision for the scene. Do you plan to follow his footsteps into directing adult films?

Directing is something that has crossed my mind, but I'm not sure yet.

You and your pup handler launched a podcast! Yes, our podcast is called “Out of the Kennel.” It is about queer life, kink, fetish, nightlife and health. Meaty Panda cohosts and we've had all sorts of guests. Dominic Pacifico did the show!

Is Brent Corrigan your dream guest?

He would be fun! I like having guests in the community that I don't know much about so I can learn new things.

What is something fans would be surprised to learn about Cazden Hunter?

I can be really shy at times. Do you have a secret talent?

I'm really good at drawing, cooking, aggressive inline, and video games.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

My favorite thing to do in the world is snowboarding. I love it so much and I also love the mountains. The smell, the views… nothing brings me such peace. Snowboarding itself makes me feel so free and the better I get at it, the freer I feel. To

be in a place in my life where I can go from the city to the mountains any time that I wanted would be my ideal happiness.

What is your greatest fear?

Living a life where I stop trying. What is your most treasured possession?

My drawings. They may not be the greatest, but they're a part of me, and some of them I put a lot of meaning into. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

To not second guess or doubt myself. What is the trait you most deplore in others?

I think it would be selfishness and greed. It makes people do some of the most awful things.

When it is all said and done, how do you hope Cazden Hunter will be remembered?

As a genuine person, not defined by one thing, but who was kind, loving, understanding, and inspired others to do the same.

Cazden's Hunter's latest film takes place in a dark BDSM playroom with co-star Devin Franco. Watch it now at KinkMen.com.

Increasing GenderAffirming Care with Project sTrenGth

Care Resource's Project STrenGth program was created for transgender individuals to further bridge the gaps in accessing support and healthcare services in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

This program is made possible by grant funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under the Transcend initiative, which focuses on providing comprehensive, health services for transgender persons including HIV testing, status-neutral prevention, linkage and care, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), gender affirming hormone therapy, STI and hepatitis testing and treatment, primary health care, chronic disease management, and navigation to support services.

Myka Osario, Medical Project Coordinator, and Project sTrenGth Lead, states that, “Care Resource is uniquely positioned to assist transgender and gender-diverse individuals with their health care management needs. The mobile medical unit will be a powerful and effective tool against these struggles by finding those who need help and meeting them where they are in the community.”

According to the CDC, in the state of Florida a staggering 53% of all transgender people remain unemployed and 45% lack any sort of medical insurance coverage. This makes engaging in care difficult along with other barriers like stigma or prejudice standing between them and quality health care services exacerbating matters further.

Project sTrenGth hopes to address these disparities, by providing safe, affordable, and quality gender affirming health care. Some gender-affirming services include clinical STI screenings, Pap tests, breast exams, and prostate cancer screenings.

For more information about Project sTrenGth or to enroll in services, please call 786-761-2756, or email projectstrengh@careresource.org

Dear Andreus,

I recently came into some money and feel like I need to keep in a secret. My boyfriend is very high-maintenance and has me spending money like water. I love him, so I don't mind, but now that I have come into a sizeable amount of cash, I feel like if he knew he would want me spending even more money. My fear is that he may find out later that I have the money and wonder why I said nothing. We have been together for eight years and share mostly everything. Truth is, I don't like keeping secrets, but I also don't like being broke. What should I do?

Sincerely,

Courtney M

Dear Courtney,

Something that I swear by, is that we teach people how to treat us. I don't doubt that you have gotten your boyfriend accustomed to certain things, or a high-maintenance way of life. Once those habits start, it is often hard to stop it. You are within your rights to withhold or share that fact that you have come into some money. If you chose to tell him, then you should lay down some rules. It is your money, and you are allowed to say no. If you decide to not tell him, again that is something that only you can decide. If all else fails, maybe give him a fixed allowance!

Dear Andreus,

My boyfriend got a new job. We have been househunting in our local area, but his job has offered him a position in another county about 4 hours away. I really like South Florida living, and don't want to move, but he is ready to take the position and move. I really don't want to move, and I also

can't do a long-distance relationship, so I am afraid that I will lose him if I say I don't want to go. He has been waiting for this promotion for a long time, so I don't want to get in the way of his happiness. I just don't know what to do.

Sincerely,

Francisco S.

Dear Francisco,

That is a tough one. I think in this scenario, you must think about the long-term. Do you love him enough to make the sacrifice? Or are you so against moving that you are really willing to possibly lose him? I think, first things first- You two must sit down and talk about all of this. What each of you really wants, the pros and cons, and if there is any middle ground. Obviously, things are pretty serious if you are already house hunting. My thoughts are – What difference does it make where you live, if you are with the person that you love? Think about the future, instead of this moment – and go from there.
