A little piece of Tuscany THE INVITATION You are invited to join Brendan and Rointon at the Villa Rustici, a hamlet in a Tuscan olive and fruit orchard, 1 kilometer from the village of Grassina, which is just south of the Medici city of Florence. My 50th present is to have you with us in Italy - there is no cost to you for the accommodation, you just need to get there! The calendar on the next page is marked with the dates we would love you to join us.

The dates marked above are when we will be in Italy, we will send the dates which we would like you to join us on an email. As you can imagine the logistics for this sort of event are considerable, but if that time period is not convenient or for some reason you would like a different time-frame, then please contact us. Check-in is from Saturday to Saturday, so please make arrangements to arrive in Grassina on a Saturday as guests will be checking out on each Saturday. If you can’t stay for the full period that is no problem, just let us know. All the costs of the accommodation are covered—that is our gift. We want to introduce our family and friends who haven’t been to Italy to one of our favourite countries in the world. RSVP — 1st December 2018
W hat will be happening?
We have chosen the location and accommodation style so that you can have your own holiday and can make your own plans. Using Grassina as a base to visit Tuscany, Rome, Bologna or the coast is all part of why we chose this location. You can use public transport, self drive or hitch a ride with others in the group.
THE ACCOMMODATION The hamlet is a collection of fifteen villas and part of a 35-hectare estate with olive groves and vineyards. Most villas are two bedroom, with a sitting area and kitchenette to allow for self catering. On the estate are large furnished outdoor areas plus a swimming pool with a jacuzzi area.
NO REAL PARTY DATES Each week we will be having a long table dinner. It will most likely be on a Wednesday, to allow for people to settle in and get to know each other before the dinner. We will also be arranging for some group activities for anyone interested. Our ideas include pasta making, wine tastings, learning to speak Italian, and maybe even learning to paint the beautiful landscape...
MEALS Each villa contains a kitchen or kitchenette for self catering. The village is very close and has restaurants and cafĂŠs, so you have plenty of options to choose from. The market day for Grassina is Friday morning, which is a bit sad as we have Saturday to Saturday bookings, but every day, except Sunday, is a market day somewhere around Tuscany.

LOCATION OF THE ACCOMMODATION The hamlet is called ‘The Villa Rustici Estate’ and is situated just 1 kilometer from Grassina. The town of Grassina is south of Florence and has a movie theater, outdoor market, restaurants, pizzerias, antique fair, sports facilities (tennis, golf, and a horseback riding center), and buses into Florence. Florence is close at hand for day trips, as well as the entire Chianti region, along with Siena and San Gimignano.
There are many option to get to the estate and information will be made available closer to the date, particularly as we expect to find out a lot more about the logistics when we do a visit in September 2018.
Key places in Italy ? GETTING TO ITALY Florence is a key destination that you can fly into but also consider other options such as flying to Rome and catching a train to Florence (which only takes approx 90 minutes).
