Nearly half of the children in single mom families live at or below the poverty line. Poverty has long-term effects on children under 5. Older children, who are hungry, can’t focus on school. Getting a career education will double a single mom’s lifetime earnings and helps provide well for the children, who then grow well physically and do well academically, breaking the cycle of poverty. Meet fashion designer, Ashley Kinsey
Ashley started drawing dresses after watching Disney’s "Cinderella" and becoming entranced by the ballgowns swirling around in beautiful colors. She took this desire and left her Texas home to major in fashion design at Kent State in Ohio.
Ashley, then. landed in New York City. Spanning the last 19 years, this has included designing for major retailers-- Anthropologie, Target, Meijer, and J.Crew, along with several smaller contemporary brands. She currently lives in Grand Rapids. Her .wedding gowns and contemporary evening wear is inspired by God’s infinite designs in nature. She incorporates draping and hand painting silk in her work.
This year's collection is inspired by birds and will debut at Fashion For A Future 2023
FASHIONFOR A FUTURE 2023
Area boutiques will show their latest fashions, worn by local models and celebrities, after dinner.
Proceeds benefit Hope for Single Moms. Prevention is better than correction.
Helping women provide well for their children is six times less costly than correcting delayed learning when the children are older.
HSM removes the barriers women have to getting a career education. Together, we are helping children thrive, not just survive. Together, we are providing opportunities where otherwise there are none. Together, we are changing the future for children.
