Manufactured from Finnish forest products, the architecture of a contemporary log house offers the best context for the renewal of mind and body. The house models described in this brochure are modern and suitable for a wide range of needs, life situations, environments and climates. This collection includes also solutions for efficient urban construction. From an architectural perspective, special attention has been given to allowing refreshing natural light into the houses in all environments. A log house has a breathable structure, allowing it to balance variations in temperature and humidity, ensuring that the indoor air is fresh, clean and healthy. A log house is pleasantly cool in warm weather, yet cozily warm in cold weather. You can sleep well and breathe easily in a log house. Wood is the most natural eco-friendly building material available. Carbon dioxide is stored in the walls of a log house for centuries. Furthermore, working the log into building material consumes only small fraction of fossil fuels compared to the manufacturing of concrete, steel, brick and plastic.

This two-story model with ridge roof is an exemplar of traditional log buildings with long corners and modern window openings. Downstairs there is a kitchen, dining area, high lounge, one bedroom and a bathroom. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, a bathroom, closet and lounge. There is direct access onto the balcony from the lounge upstairs through a bridge over the two-story high lounge. Spaces are supplemented by a sheltered terrace and a storage.

This urban-stylized model combines two log frames of a different color and size. The entrance is located in the center of the home which is provided with natural light by the upper windows. High-quality and efficient production requires both a modern planning system and CAD/CAM controlled production equipment. A log house from Honkamajat is individual and customized. Honkamajat has over 60 log profiles. Log thicknesses vary from 45 mm to 250 mm.
The Tiivishirsi design structure ensures excellent tightness of the log walls. Honkamajat timber structures have gained outstanding test results. A 180mm log wall fulfills the Finnish energy efficiency regulations for detached houses. For holiday houses the equivalent requirement is 135mm.
The most strict energy efficient requirements are fulfilled by adding insulation to the walls.
