Whilst hosting 40 international teams can create logistical challenges there were positive reviews and reports from World Rugby, World Series and Qualifier Team Managers and the International Rugby Players Association. Each group provided their feedback and evaluation on a number of tournament operational deliverables – for example: team travel, accommodation, stadium and training facilities, tournament host communication and tournament experience etc. The Hong Kong Sevens averaged 85% out of a possible 100% across all reports for the 2017 tournament.

HKSEVENS Rugby Week attendance totals surpassed stadium attendance for the first time, with 117,500 attendees visiting the events over the week. The 2017 Hong Kong Sevens tournament hosted the World Rugby Sevens Series, the World Rugby Sevens Series Qualifier and also for the first time the World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series Qualifier, which was played over two days at So Kon Po with the semi-final and final held inside the Hong Kong Stadium. With forty teams involved in the tournament, the Hong Kong Sevens remains by far the largest event on the World Series.

瘋狂欖球週出席人數首次超越香港大球場,一週內的總參 加人次達117,500。 2017香港國際七人欖球賽中包含世界七人欖球系列賽、世 界七人欖球系列賽外圍賽,另外亦首次包辦世界女子七人 欖球賽系列賽外圍賽。女子組的賽事在掃捍埔運動場連續 兩日舉行,而準決賽和決賽則在香港大球場舉行。今年, 香港國際七人欖球賽的參賽隊伍共有40隊,是世界七人欖 球系列中規模最大的一站。 儘管主辦一個有40支隊伍參加的球賽必定會遇上很多物流 及後勤的挑戰,但從國際欖球理事會、世界欖球系列賽及 外圍賽球隊經理人和國際欖球員協會所得的回顧和報告均 為正面積極。 每個組別均會就比賽運作的狀況提供反饋和評核,例如隊 伍的交通安排、住宿、比賽場地及訓練設施、主辦單位溝 通和比賽體驗等。在2017年的所有報告中,香港國際七人 欖球賽平均獲得百分之85的評分。 香港國際七人欖球賽進行期間,場內繼續提供嶄新娛樂, 讓觀眾都能參與其中。新設娛慶節目包括在北看台比賽控 制塔搭建的舞台,三天賽事期間均設樂隊現場表演;另外 還請來「總統」大駕光臨、啦啦隊及親吻攝錄機等。

The Hong Kong Sevens inside the stadium also continued to provide new entertainment initiatives to keep attendees engaged. The inclusion of a stage built into the Tournament Control Tower on the North stand, allowed live bands to perform across all three days; Presidential impersonators, cheerleaders and “kiss cams” were also used in the sports presentation. Event atmosphere continues to be the top motivation to attend the sevens as the Cimigo market research showed 57% of attendees viewed this as the most important factor. The market research also highlighted that event satisfaction remains strong, with 97% of attendees confirming that they would recommend the event to friends and family, and 84% likely to return in 2018.

賽事的狂熱氣氛依然是觀眾出席香港國際七人欖球賽的最 大的動力。據Cimigo市場調查顯示,百分之57的受訪者認 為視氣氛為入場觀賽的最重要原因。該調查亦指出百分之 97的觀眾會將香港國際七人欖球賽推介予朋友和家人,而 百分之84的觀眾表示會參與2018年的香港國際七人欖球 賽。 香港國際七人欖球賽的社交媒體在追蹤人數及接觸層面持 續增長,該球賽的臉書專頁是主要的社交媒體,有超過十 萬人追蹤和380萬人次到訪。 今年,香港國際七人欖球賽的應用程式亦新增予一些功 能,例如國泰航空/匯豐香港國際七人欖球賽七欖美食匯 (Bars and Restaurants Club),程式下載量增加13,000個, 達至32,000。hksevens.com網站依然是重要資訊平台,在 本年度達到一百萬瀏覽人次。 今屆的世界七人欖球系列賽在四年的循環中已完成兩季, 香港欖球總會將會與國際欖球總會緊密聯繫,在2017年 第四季提交議案,爭取舉辦下一輪世界七人欖球系列賽 (2020-2023)的資格。
