As a mother, I not only take pride in finding that WOW gift but also balancing the bigger gifts with very cool, curiosity-building educational and artistic finds. When toys, crafts and tech lasts longer than the latest trends... I can feel good about our investment. At Family Scholastic Adventures, we take pride in offering truly valuable gift ideas, those that hopefully stand the test of time... or at least longer than the holiday break. #JustKidding But it also comes down to how much time parents invest in playing and engaging children, not just the dollar amount spent. So, with that said, we've found some really incredible holiday wishlist items to interest us adults, as well as, our clan. Have a playful holiday!

Come Together For Family Game Night BY BARBARA SPALDING
Bringing your family together for a game offers so many valuable benefits. While some games are more educational than others all games enable better communication skills, teamwork, and patience. For younger family members, cooperative games takes the edge off "winning" and competing against one another... although competition can be a good thing and definitely a skill enhancing tool. Things like critical thinking, strategy, decision-making and analysis are skills practiced through healthy competition and game play. Today's market offers a wide array of family games. Look for dice games, cards, traditional board games, interactive board games and more. Click below to learn of some of the hottest games this holiday season and be sure to log onto http://Blog.FamilyScholastic Adventures.com for more game suggestions and reviews.

A Child's Artistic Expression Matters BY MARK SPALDING While reading, writing and arithmetic will always be the core of a good education, the need for creativity and artistic expression is still valid and relevant, even in this digital age. Art can be much more than splashing pretty colors on a page. Art can tell a story. It can lead you to a place you never knew you wanted to be. It draws you in and invites you to see the world, not only from the artist’s point of view, but challenges you to see the world in a way you may not have been aware of before. Art can be a problem solver. Maybe you’re working through some personal issues. Maybe you need a break from the grind of every day life. Using your imagination and creativity can release your mind from those burdens for a while, either by focusing on how to paint that tree or form the arm on that sculpture, or by simply letting go and allowing the brush to flow across the canvas unburdened by preconceived notions about what is right or wrong or fitting into a box. Using your imagination and creativity can be useful in so many ways. Looking at a problem from multiple angles, looking for something that maybe other people have skipped over or missed, thinking outside the box, can bring a lot of success and rewarding results. In the end, Art and Creativity are about tapping into the non-analytical side of your brain. Sure, there is some technical know-how that helps you to create, but it’s the drive to create that only your imagination and creativity can provide. Don’t be afraid to flex those muscles once in a while to keep them fresh.
Enjoy some of the seasons most colorful and creative craft projects. Sewing, cooking, coloring, writing... there is something for everyone's artistic flavor.

A child's imagination can be set off from any number of things: a t.v. show, a book, friends, action figures, and so on. When this occurs, it is best, although sometimes difficult, to allow your child the freedom to roam... and ramble. Let those
ideas flow freely whether in telling you stories or through free play. If possible, write some down for keepsake purposes. Aeromax Astronaut Dress Up & Shuttle Inflatable
