Jordon: I get asked a lot about MDF used in doors versus all wood. Typically, on our paint grade doors, they are built with an MDF panel (middle of the door) The purpose of the MDF panel is to create a more stable door, overall. Especially in Southeast Texas, the humidity and heat causes the wood to expand and contract When solid wood expands and contracts, it does so horizontally and vertically, causing cracks in the doors. The MDF does not move as much, resulting in less cracks.

Jordon: MDF is not used in stain grade doors. These are made with beautiful stain grade wood, and you can sometimes see where the pieces of wood were glued and pressed together As it expands and contracts, the stain is much more forgiving, you cannot see the seams as clearly
Jordon: I know people tend to shy away from MDF, and I totally understand that! I would never use MDF as trim or anywhere else in my house I have just found that painted solid wood doors tend to have a lot of cracks and lines, and an MDF panel helps to minimize these.
