The area in which the lodge is located was designated on the first European maps of the district as ‘Kai Whare’, the Māori term for ‘house of food’. The great continent remains largely untamed, with lush northern rainforests, vast red deserts with rugged canyons and mountain ranges, endless pristine coastlines, and native bush teeming with strange and beautiful endemic flora and fauna. Luxury takes many different forms in Australia – treehouses perched riverside in the Daintree Rainforest, safari-style tents and pavilions on the beach, red desert dunes, bushland and ancient coastal floodplains, tropical island retreats on the Great Barrier Reef, Barossa and Hunter Valley wine country escapes, elegant country houses in landscaped gardens, and cutting-edge design and art hotels. All are devoted to the highest standards of comfort and quality, whilst connecting guests with a genuine sense of place and offering world-class signature experiences. Let Australia’s wild luxury capture your imagination and create lifelong memories.
