148 kg CO2 per ton of cardboard from production to the factory doors and absorption of fossil and biogenic greenhouse gases, as well as at emissions produced by changes in land use. The reduction in the carbon footprint comes on the back of more efficient use of resources during the per ton of cardboard, the industry is on track to an economy based on organic raw materials and with a reduced or even neutral carbon footprint, according to Horst Bittermann, Pro Carton’s Director General. n
