Quilters swoon over our metallicaccent prints for their exceptional shine, sophisticated elegance and superfine lines that suggest etching or embroidery. Hoffman is the standard bearer in this niche because our process is purposeful both in design and manufacturing. We use the best metallic dyes available to create our gold-accent and silver-accent looks. The dyes start with either a brass powder to make gold or an aluminum powder to make silver. The particles of the metal powders must be fine enough to pass through the mesh used in screen printing. If the powder becomes too fine, the metallic accent will not be shiny. A delicate touch is required to control the size of the particles, and thus create just the right amount of shine. The printer’s technique also comes into play in the blending of the metallic dye stuff with the adhesive that binds it to the fabric. The printer’s careful control of the blending process will result in a metallic accent that is shiny, beautiful and lasting. Nothing pleases us more than being able to offer the most beautiful and highest quality metallic-accent fabrics for keepsake quilting projects to be enjoyed over many generations.
