Digital Photography & Photoshop Grades 5 – 8 Few artistic processes are as magical and creative as photography, and now with the use of digital cameras, computers, and digital printers, it is easier and more fun than ever! Basic elements of photography such as composition, lighting, aperture, and shutter speed will be studied. Students will explore the various types of photography such as landscape, people, macro, animals, art photography, and more. Students will also be introduced to basic Photoshop techniques as they edit their own work. Digital camera required. Digital Animation Grades 5 – 8 Students will learn basic animation techniques such as designing and producing graphic images, creating movement, and creating buttons using Macromedia’s Flash software. Students will demonstrate their knowledge of Flash by planning and producing a creative, interactive, animated movie. Constructing Concepts Grades 5 – 8 Look all around you – architecture plays a key role in our lives. In this class you will explore the basic building blocks of architectural design. Study geometry by drawing, analyzing, and building 2- and 3-dimensional shapes, solids, and patterns. Then you will put this new knowledge to work by creating buildings using paper, straws, popsicle sticks, toothpicks, cardboard, and lots of glue. Model Construction Grades 5 – 8 Join this class to learn basic construction and model-building skills using wood, chip-board, cardboard, foam-core, plastic, and different types of glue – just like real architects. In a fun and relaxed environment you will use your imagination to design using plan-and-section drawing.You will also learn the concepts of spatial sizing, scaling, and structure.
