Hockaday Welcomes New Trustees
The Hockaday School welcomes six new Trustees to the Board of Trustees this year. These individuals are respected by the entire Hockaday community for their thoughtfulness, leadership, and dedication to the School and our broader community.

For more than 40 years, Arnie has been a teacher, counselor, coach, mentor, principal, and headmaster for both independent and public schools. He graduated cum laude from Princeton University with an AB in Sociology, and received an MAR in Pastoral Care and Counseling from
MARY ANNE ALHADEFF joined the Board in 2016 and serves on the Strategic Planning Committee. She is the president and CEO of KERA, the PBS and NPR affiliate for North Texas. During Mary Anne’s tenure, KERA has set a higher standard by creating new avenues for North Texans to stay informed, engaged, educated, and entertained. Previously, Mary Anne served as the CEO for Maine Public Broadcasting and Prairie Public Broadcasting in North Dakota. Her impressive career has also included roles in content and production with public broadcasting stations in New Hampshire, Washington, and Minnesota. As a television producer, her programs aired on PBS, Showtime, HBO, BBC London, and CBC Canada, and earned awards from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Emmy Awards), and the New York Film Festival, among others. Mary Anne currently serves on the SMU Tate Lecture Series Board of Directors, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting Advisory Council, the National Educational Telecommunications Association Executive Committee, the Alcuin School Advisory Board, and is a member of The Charter 100, the International Women’s Forum, The Dallas Assembly, and the Downtown Dallas Residents’ Council. Mary Anne holds a bachelor’s degree in Education and French Studies from the College of Saint Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota. She and her husband, David Alhadeff, live in Dallas.
Lutheran Theological Seminary. After graduating, he began working as a teacher and a coach at Lawrence Academy in Massachusetts. He continued his career in education both in the United States and abroad during which time he was the high school principal of the Hong Kong International School. Upon his return to the U.S. he was the headmaster for Louisville Collegiate School for five years, and he retired after serving 21 years as the headmaster for St. Mark’s School of Texas. Currently, he is a consultant in the education field assisting schools with their specific needs. Throughout his career, he has volunteered his time with more than 20 non-profit organizations and has received the prestigious Award for Excellence in Community Service for Education from the Dallas Historical Society, the Texas Association of Journalism Educators Administrator of the Year, and the Robert L. Peters, Jr. ’42 award for individuals who played baseball at Princeton and have made significant contributions to the game of baseball. ANNA MCPHAIL joined the Board in 2016 and serves on the Education and Student Life Committee and Strategic Planning Committee. She received her BA from Trinity University in 1993 and her JD with honors from The University of Texas at Austin in 1995. Anna practiced law for Jones Day in Washington, D.C. and KPMG in Paris, France before moving to Dallas. In her 11 years as a Hockaday parent, Anna has held various leadership roles within the Hockaday community including serving as HPA Communications Liaison, Grade Representative, Fun Day Co-Chair, Form I Winter Formal Chair, Family Farewell Picnic Chair, and Spring Fling Co-Chair. She and her husband, Brad, are active in a number of community
