Endowment Funds The Ellen Higginbotham Rogers Award for Excellence The Ellen Higginbotham Rogers Award is given each year to a faculty or staff member at The Hockaday School who has made an important impact on the students and on the education the School provides them. The Award honors Hockaday alumna and Life Trustee Ellen Higginbotham Rogers β59, mother of Katherine Rogers Roberts β89, and grandmother of Alice Goodrich Roberts, Class of 2020. The Marian Tower Faculty Speakers Fund Established in 1994 in memory of Marian Tower β73 by her sisters, Penny Tower Cook β72 and Jeanne Tower Cox β74, the Fund brings speakers to Hockaday. It benefits the entire school community by providing the faculty with opportunities to hear and respond to a wide variety of thought, opinion, and research in education, public policy, science and technology, and the humanities.
Special Purpose Funds The Shannon and Callan Blount Endowment Fund Established in 2001, the Fund supports the arts at Hockaday and honors Carolyn Helfman and Robert Gustavson for their positive influence on the lives of Shannon Elizabeth Blount β99 and Callan Marie Blount β02. The gift is given in recognition and support of the excellent education and positive role models provided by these fine educators and by The Hockaday School, and to ensure continued excellence in education at Hockaday for the young women of tomorrow. The E. E. Fogelson and Greer Garson Fogelson Charitable Foundation Fund for Fine Arts Established with a grant from the Foundation, this Fund supports new programs in the fine arts at Hockaday and recognizes the generous support of the arts provided by the Fogelson family. The Cynthia Helene Grossman Endowed Fund for the Boarding Department Established in 1974 by Dr. Burton Grossman, a Trustee of the School from 1972 to 1978, the Fund honors his daughter, Cynthia Grossman, a member of the Class of 1972, and is directed to maintenance or improvement of the residence facility and program. The Charlene C. and Tom F. Marsh Fund for the Visual Arts Established in 1996, this Fund reflects the Marsh familyβs appreciation for Hockadayβs program in the history of art and its studio program, including painting, sculpture, drawing, ceramics, printmaking and photography.This grant supports the curriculum, faculty and program in all visual and studio arts. It also recognizes the contribution of such committed teachers as Ed Long. Charlene Cline Marsh graduated from Hockaday in 1962. She and her husband, Tom, have served the School as Trustees; and they are the parents of two Hockaday daughters: Estee Marsh Kellogg β87 and C.C. Marsh β00. Mrs. Marshβs mother, Tennessee Whittenburg Cline McNaughton, attended Hockaday with the Class of 1942.

The Valda β33 and Sallie β57 McCutcheon Archival Fund The Valda β33 and Sallie β57 McCutcheon Archival Fund, established in 2006, supports the legacy and traditions of Hockaday by helping to provide for an archivist and materials to properly chronicle and maintain the history of Hockaday. The School archivist is the keeper of Hockadayβs heritage and the creator of archival exhibitions. The exhibition of Hockadayβs historical artifacts is essential for current students to learn about the great Hockaday girls and women who have gone before them and created the traditions and legacy that we enjoy today. The Ashley H. Priddy Endowed Lower School Fund Established in 1985 as a memorial to Life Trustee Ashley Priddy by the Eugene McDermott Foundation, Sabine Corporation, and an anonymous donor, the Fund provides support for the operation and maintenance of the Ashley H. Priddy Lower School. The Wilmeth Family Endowment Fund Established in 1994 by Mr. and Mrs. Steven L.Wilmeth, the Fund supports academic excellence at Hockaday, with particular emphasis on the science and mathematics curriculum, faculty and program. This endowment honors Cathy Wilmeth Taylor β92, Jennifer Wilmeth Keller β96 and Melissa Wilmeth Iraniparast β98. The Sally Taylor Young Fund for Curriculum Development in the Humanities Established in 1996 by Life Trustee Barney T. Young, this Fund honors his wife Sally, and supports the humanities curriculum and faculty at Hockaday by encouraging the creation of new and innovative electives in literature, history, geography, government, the classics and the arts for the Upper School program of studies. Sally Young graduated from Hockaday in 1953. Barney Young has twice served as a Hockaday Trustee and chaired the Board from 1994 to 1996. They have two alumnae daughters, Sarah Young Miller β79 and Serena Young β82, and two granddaughters, Katherine Young β04 and Emma Young β10.
