Sign up for our Summer 2021 Activities, which are specially designed with COVID-19 restrictions in mind. Online registration begins on FRIDAY, MAY 14, at 8:00 a.m. In-person registration begins MONDAY, MAY 17, at 8:00 a.m.

*NOTE: The Summer Recess Program will comply with COVID SAFE PRACTICES for Youth Programs as required. To view a full list of these recommendations, refer to: All Together New Mexico COVID Safe Practices for Individuals and Employers (April 9, 2021 version) Operations and activities are subject to change due to current Public Health Orders. At the time when The Guide went to publication, maximum participation at Summer Recess was set at 129.
Make connections with new friends at our board game themed Summer Recess Program!
Arts & Crafts: Make a project each week. The projects are for all ages and can be constructed as basic or elaborate as the participant’s interest and ability. Projects will complement the theme of the week. Sports & Childhood Games: Children will be instructed in the proper technique and rules of classic sports, childhood games and also be introduced to the latest that the industry has to offer! Supervised indoor and outdoor play is provided at no charge for children entering the following grades: Kindergarten & 1st Grade are in the “Barnyard” (limit of 43) 2nd & 3rd Grade are in the “Cave” (limit of 43) 4th & 5th Grade are in the “Big Red” (limit of 43)
Please bring a mask as all participants are required to wear masks.
Age groups are set by the grade year your child will be entering for the 2021/2022 school season. Attendance of at least 4 days/week will be required to retain position in the program. If a student misses 2 consecutive days, another student will be enrolled from the waiting list. Pick-up and drop-off times will be strictly enforced to ensure maximum camp time and accurate meal counts. If a child MUST be picked up early, they may not return until the following scheduled camp day. A 10:1 camper to instructor ratio will be followed at all times. Proof of age is required in order to register kindergarten children. Parents must sign a release form for all children attending Summer Recess. This Program consists of active games, quiet cool-down games, arts & crafts, and on-site special events. The playground site is not open to established daycare facilities for drop off. Registration will begin ONLINE on Friday, May 14 at 8:00 am. Inperson registration will begin on Monday, May 17 at 8:00 am. For your child’s safety, the following items are prohibited: cell phones, any electronic devices, dangling earrings, and open-toed shoes, backless shoes or shoes with a slick sole.
A Free Breakfast and Lunch is provided at the Summer Recess site. Children must be checked in at the program by 7:30am for the breakfast head count, and by 9:00am for the lunch head count. DROP-OFF 7:30am - 9:00am in the SOUTH PARKING LOT PICK-UP 4:30pm - 5:00pm in the SOUTH PARKING LOT
Stay tuned for our Summer Recess Activity Calendar which will list specific activities, treats and challenges for all participants to enjoy and look forward to. A Parent Guide will be available to all participants listing specific rules and recommendations for all participants to follow upon the first day of the program.
The following fields at the Veterans Memorial Complex will be made available for practices and scrimmages when not in use for league play or tournaments: Zia Plex Fields (4) Junior Varsity Baseball Field* Norman Fee Field* *At the discretion of Recreation/Parks and Open Spaces staff
Who can practice:
Teams that are participating in a league recognized by the City of Hobbs Recreation Department Teams that while not participating in a league recognized by the City of Hobbs Recreation Department are
sanctioned through a national governing body as a Hobbs team.
Fees: Out of town teams will not be allowed to practice unless they are participating in a league recognized by the City of Hobbs Recreation Department. Each team requesting practice time, MUST have insurance that covers practices/scrimmages outside of league play.
$10 for a 90-120 minute practice time without lights. $45 for a 90-120 minute practice time with lights.
No camps or clinics are to be held. Only practices or scrimmages. (Both teams scrimmaging must pay a fee.) For more information contact the Recreation Department Office at (575) 397-9291.
