8 Nurse Practitioner Supports Acute and Urgent Mental Health Needs

Dual-certified in primary care and psychiatry, Meghan Steele, MSN, NP, whose position is funded by philanthropy, serves as a nurse practitioner in addition to collaborating with Hoag’s OB/GYNs to assist patients with perinatal mental health disorders. Her role expands the team’s bandwidth to care for the acute and urgent mental health needs of pregnant and postpartum mothers in a timely manner. Meghan triages and coordinates care, provides continuity of care, and participates in outreach and community education programs to raise awareness about maternal mental health.
