We hope you had a wonderful new year and are planning to play more golf and enjoy all the facilities at BridgeMill throughout 2022. We have a full calendar of golf events for our golf members and even a few events for the general membership throughout the year. Our Couples Golf events will start back in April, and they are always a lot of fun. Please be on the lookout for the events in the newsletters. The ladies tournaments and play days start back in March, so if you are interested in becoming part of their Monday playdays, Wednesday playdays or their tournaments, contact the golf shop and we will get you plugged into all this great group of ladies. Those that are seniors and want to join in the fun with the men’s Tuesday/ Thursday play days, we can get you in contact with the gentlemen who put these all together. In the golf shop we should have new product coming in starting in February. Shoes, balls, gloves should be abundant then. Please call the shop for any tee time needs or the status of the golf course as far as frost is concerned. Be aware golf attire is needed to play golf and to practice on the driving range. That includes no denim and please have collared shirts. January 27th we have our fist demo day with Taylor Made golf company. If you are interested in being fit for clubs please reach out to the golf shop to get one of the slots. April 8th will be the second Taylormade Demo day. There will be Titleist and Callaway Demo days more towards the spring season. If you are looking to be fit for clubs and do not want to wait for a specific Demo day, call Georgia Golf Performance and get on the schedule with Justin Tackett as we have demo equipment for Titleist, Taylor Made, Callaway, and Ping. We are looking forward to a great year of golf and memories at the club. Get out and get involved this year!

TIPS FROM THE PROS AT GEORGIA GOLF PERFORMANCE

BREAK 100 - SMALLEST CLUB, BIGGEST IMPACT

When you’re trying to break 100, eliminating three-putts is one of the most impactful improvements you can make. You don’t have to hit 200+ yard drives to break 100. The humble putter has the power to take you into the 90s. You should be spending at least a third of your practice time on putting. And to make the most of that time, make sure you have the right putting setup.

Par 3 strategy - Flag hunting?

Making the flag your only focus on par 3s increases risk and closes off possibilities. And it often leaves you staring at double or triple bogey. But if you know what to look for, you’ll know the best spot to aim at.

Check your setup

The average round involves at least 36 putts and – at most – 14 drives. Yet “hitting longer drives” is what most golfers prioritize. Putting better may not seem as exciting as driving further, but it makes a bigger impact on your scorecard.

Try this simple putting assessment

Take ten different 30-foot putts on the practice green and count how many you get to within 3 feet. If too many of your putts finish outside 3 feet, let’s get together and change that.

Beware of sucker flags

A flag towards the front right may be tempting. But if it’s on a downward slope or behind a deep greenside bunker, it’s not worth risking an extremely difficult up and down. There’s a reason bunkers or water are often front right and left of the green; course designers know this is where recreational golfers usually miss.

At Georgia Golf Performance our goal is to instill a love of the game of golf in your child by creating a fun, safe, and interactive learning environment. Our winter program concentrates on correct golf fundamentals and experiential learning through drills, golf games, oncourse sessions and athletic development training. Sessions will be indoor and outdoor, depending on the weather conditions. Our learning center offers indoor hitting and putting so we can train all winter! The times and locations of our Winter Junior Program for Levels 1 and 2 are listed below. Spring session class schedule will resume the week after daylight savings in March, and we will announce them next month. It’s a new year and there is going to a full roster of activities for ladies golf at BridgeMill. We are a group of ladies that love to play golf. We enjoy the game, the exercise, the fresh air and the pleasure of being with like minded ladies. We welcome all ladies of all skill levels. Our club offers group and private lessons and we have weekly playdates starting in April.

UPCOMING EVENTS

January…Girls Night Out. details will be listed in the Golf Buddies app as to the date and time and a confirmation of location depending on club availability. We will talk about upcoming events and suggestions to make our club better and stronger. We extend a welcome to new and existing members. March…Girls Night Out. We will meet in the Wine Room at Featherstones to kick off our season with details of playdates, game nights and tournaments. Playdates and game nights are hosted by the Ladies Golf Association. Our dues are $10 per month. If you prefer to make an annual payment, the cost will be $100. The dues should be paid to Molly Maher and her Venmo account is Molly-Maher-8. April 16…Spring Fling tournament which will include breakfast … April 24…Ryder Cup. This event is hosted by the club and will be an 18 hole tournament with partners and teams organized by the club. Lots of competition!! June 25 & 26…Member/Member club hosted event July 10…LGA shootout which will be a flighted event August 19…Member/Guest club hosted event September10-11…club championship which is open to all golf members November 20…club hosted turkey shoot December 10…Par 3 Christmas Party hosted by LGA We have tee times every Monday and/or Friday based on course availability.
