ALTA LEAGUE DEADLINES

The registration period for all Spring ALTA rosters begins January 1 and the deadline is January 20, 2021. This includes Men, Thursday Women, Weekend Women, Senior Day and Junior leagues. These leagues begin match play in March.

Players on BridgeMill league teams must be Tennis or Golf members in good standing. Captains must get approval from the Tennis Department before submitting a roster to the league. Posted in the Pro Shop is a list of players looking for teams and teams looking for players. Call the Pro Shop if you want your information on this list.

ADULT PLAYER DEVELOPMENT

TENNIS 1-2-3 BEGINNER CLINIC - Learn the basics about strokes and how to play games. 5 week clinic series - Call the Pro Shop for more information – 770-720-9635

BEGINNER PLAYING DRILLS - For beginning players that have taken the 1-23 beginner class or an equivalent, these drills will focus on how to play points. Positioning and strategy will be taught. Players should be able to sustain a short rally. Great program to get you ready for team league play. Monday – 7:00-8:30 pm

DOUBLES DRILLS – Good practice drills for doubles with the opportunity to play points against different people. Great way to meet other players!! Monday – 7:00-8:30 pm Tuesday- 6:30-8:00 pm Thursday – 6:30-8:00 pm Friday -10:00-11:30 am Saturday – 10:00-11:30 am

CARDIOTENNIS – Intense cardio work out on the tennis court. Continuous ball feeding and moving! Friday – 9:00-10:00 am

FALL SEASON RESULTS

The Fall ALTA season was spectacular! Lots of great competition throughout the season. Congrats to the following teams that made it into post season play! Thursday Women AA-3, Captain Jenn Kenney – Division Winner & City Champions A-5, Captain Van O’Connor – Division Winner B-1, Captain Elaine Eternod – Division Winner Sunday Women IMPORTANT FRIENDLY REMINDER Please check in with the Pro Shop B-1, Captain Laura Cross – Division Winner Attendant prior to play. The courts B-5, Captain Jenn Hanna – Division Winner are in high demand so one person per court, whether from a team Men B-4, Captain Karl Vance – Division Winner or individual reservation, should check in with the Pro Shop prior to their reserved court time to verify Senior Men B-1, Captain Robert Dodge – Division Winner their court usage and pay any guest fees. The staff also will be able to let you know if there have been any

changes to your court number at this time.

The tennis courts are for BridgeMill Athletic Club members and their guests only. Accompanied guest fees are $10.00 per person. Athletic members and their guests are also required to pay the $10.00 per person court fee. Court fees should be paid before play. Unaccompanied guests are not allowed to use the tennis courts.

EXCEL JUNIOR TENNIS ACADEMY The junior program at BridgeMill is designed to meet the 7-10 years – This group is for juniors with little or no tennis needs of all our junior players starting at age 5, recreational experience. We focus on developing athletic skills, stroke to advanced tournament players. The goal of the program fundamentals and learning how to play points and keep is to instill a love for the game of tennis in our youth. We score. encourage and foster a healthy, active lifestyle that players carry with them throughout their lives. Our program is divided into categories based on ability and age. All programs focus on proper stroke development, footwork, fitness, strategy and mental toughness at an age and level appropriate manner. Contact the Tennis Shop for class 11-16 years – This group is for players with little or no experience. Players will be taught every shot, how to keep score, how to play a match. This group is great for those aspiring to play on their high school teams and know what they are doing. schedule updates, available space and to sign up. EXCEL ACADEMY The Academy group is for EXCEL FUTURE STARS DEVELOPMENT GROUPS Registration begins in January intermediate to advanced players, ages 10 & up, who are committed to improving their game. This high energy group of players is striving to play tournaments, high 5-6 years – This group is for our youngest juniors with little or no tennis experience. Our goal in the program is to help children learn and enjoy the game of tennis while improving their overall athletic skills. We focus on basic motor skills like throwing, catching, running, jumping and learn fundamental racket skills. school tennis or working to get a college scholarship. The Head Coach of the academy is Jennifer Pourchier who is also the Head Coach for the Reinhardt University tennis teams. One unique benefit of this is that Academy players often get to hit and train with the college players! Players are divided by ability level and age. Drills focus on proper stroke technique, footwork, fitness, strategy, and mental toughness. The group meets Monday and/or Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 pm. This program runs throughout the school year. HALLOWEEN TENNIS SCRAMBLE Big shout out to Deb Masdea and Nicole Shippy for organizing an awesome Halloween tennis event! 48 women dressed in Halloween costumes played in the event. A silent Pumpkin Auction, Lucky Let sales, Candy Corn Guess & Tennis Towel sales raised over $1100.00 for the American Cancer Society.

BridgeMill members were treated to a great afternoon clinic put on by the Reinhardt University tennis players!!

TENNIS BALL RECYCLING

Instead of launching your used or bad tennis balls out of the court please drop them off at the Pro Shop or leave them on the tray by the scorekeepers to be recycled. Old tennis balls have a multitude of uses after their tennis life has expired. Teachers, boaters & dog lovers are always calling us for old tennis balls. Plus, tennis balls do not disintegrate into the ground so to be kind to the earth please help us recycle tennis balls.
