Vasilias Nikoklis fits the bill for an intimate and romantic wedding day. It’s a traditional, family-owned inn close to the village of Nikoklia, just outside Paphos. The 100-year-old property is set on the banks of the Dhiarizos River, with views towards the sea in one direction, and the Troodos Mountains in the other. Ceremonies take place in a courtyard filled with flowering jasmine and bougainvillea, or in a eucalyptus garden for bigger parties. Guests will perch on decorated wooden chairs as you enter through a beautiful old arch and walk up a red-carpet aisle to your other half. Post-ceremony drinks are served in the rustic winter tavern, which features beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls and an old fireplace. You’ll then move out to the terrace, where tables dressed in crisp white linen are set up beneath a grapevine-draped pergola. After a home-cooked Cypriot meal, the evening is spent on the poolside terrace, which will be decorated with twinkling lanterns. Just east of Paphos, Yeroskipou is a coastal village that – according to legend – was once visited by Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love. The ceremony takes place in the Town Hall’s garden – a sanctuary-like space dotted with stone arches, paved terraces and neat lawns. Bougainvillea-wreathed stone staircases add an authentic touch, and you can even catch glimpses of the Mediterranean Sea in the distance. You’ll swap rings under a stylish sail shade, with traditional arches providing the backdrop. The finishing touch comes from a white-draped ceremony table.
