douglas Kenyon is a graduate of the art institute of Chicago, a conservator, a collector, an art dealer and an outdoorsman. He opened douglas Kenyon incorporated (dKi) in 1969 in Chicago to address the need for archival framing and restoration of works on paper. dKi soon became successful enough for mr. Kenyon to pursue another passion: exhibiting and selling fine art. after 23 years in Chicago he sold his gallery on michigan avenue to follow his dream to live out West.
mr. Kenyon relocated to Steamboat Springs, Colorado where in 1993 he founded the two rivers Gallery in the historic downtown district of Steamboat. two rivers Gallery specialized in the art of the american West including fine western paintings, photography, works on paper and cowboy collectibles. two rivers Gallery closed in 2006 marking the end of a chapter. Featured in this auction is a selection of decorative l.a. Huffman (after) hand colored photographic murals. these iconic images, depicting cowboys and indians living and working, document the untamed western landscape. also included in the collection are cowboy collectibles, original western silver prints, audubon and mcKenney & Hall lithographs, botanicals, western movie posters, folk art, horn furniture, and decorative hand colored photographic reproductions representing quintessential western imagery.
