as a guitarist and bass player mr. Guercio got his start in the music business with dick Clark in 1962. He was an original guitarist with Frank Zappa and the mothers of invention along with producing, arranging, and composing numerous hits. Guercio received a Grammy award for his work as a music producer winning album of the year in 1969 for Blood, Sweat & tears. in 1971, mr. Guercio purchased the Caribou ranch north of nederland, Colorado to build what would become the legendary Caribou ranch recording studio.
mr. Guercio and his wife lucy enjoyed their exciting life at Caribou ranch but in the late 1970’s Hollywood came calling. mr. Guercio was set to produce a feature film so he went looking for a home in California for his growing family. mr. Guercio fell in love with a furnished stately Hacienda set on 70 acres resplendent with 400 year old oak trees, in thousand oaks just 35 miles from downtown los angeles. the estate was designed by the nationally renowned architect, paul Williams, as a working farm in the tradition of the early California landowners. William’s most famous homes were for celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, lucille Ball, tyrone power, Barbara Stanwyck and danny thomas.
the Guercio’s sold the home to recording artist, donna Summer in the mid-1980’s and returned to Caribou ranch full time. much of the furniture from Wildwood Farm has been in storage ever since. leslie Hindman auctioneers is please to offer several lots of furniture from Wildwood Farm in this sale.
