During its time in the recording studio, this mirror hung opposite the studio doors and was one of the first things artists saw as they entered. $400-600

A limited number of these signs were made and posted throughout the property. CIRCA 1868, SERIAL NUMBER 18680, MODEL D Tahoe House, having mother-of-pearl keys, together with an associated bench. Length overall approximately 100 inches.
Purchased by Mr. Guercio from an antiques dealer in New York who claimed it was once owned by the Metropolitan Opera, the piano was relocated to Tahoe House at Caribou Ranch, the Guercio’s family home. The piano was used when Mr. Guercio was entertaining friends and other musicians in his private residence. $20,000-30,000

Caribous of Colorado Soccer Team, 1978-1979

18 18 Three Items Pertaining to the Caribous of Colorado Soccer Team, 1978 comprising a blue t-shirt with the team logo and trademark quote Soccer is a Kick in the Aspens!, a black baseball hat also with the team logo and a baseball jacket with the embroidered team caribou holding a soccer ball in its antlers before a Rocky Mountain alpine scene. Jacket size medium.
The Caribous of Colorado were a professional soccer team based in Denver, Colorado that played in the North American Soccer League. Their primary owners were future Washington state governor Booth Gardner and James William Guercio, owner of Caribou Ranch. They played one season in 1978 under head coaches Dave Clement, who was also a player on the team, and Dan Wood. Their home field was Mile High Stadium. Soccer legend, Pele, even attended a home game. During their only season in the Mile High City, the new team compiled the worst record in the league (8-22) and finished in last place in the Central Division of the National Conference. $200-400

The idea for the signature branded coat racks came from James W. Guercio’s father, Mr. G, and longtime studio manager John Carsello. The design was implemented by John Matheson (Big John), the Los Angeles based craftsman and set designer who worked on the Caribou Ranch studio. John C. and Mr. G. salvaged buckets of railroad ties from a restoration site in 1972 near the Moffat Tunnel, a railroad and water tunnel that cuts through the Continental Divide in north-central Colorado. $200-400

In the early days at Caribou Ranch, James W. Guercio’s mother ran the guest registration like a hotel. She made all of the guests sign the registry book upon arrival. This procedure did not last long, but the first book has survived with signatures from Elton John, Bernie Taupin, Dick Clark (when he was on the ranch filming a PBS special with Al Green and Chicago in 1973), members of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Chicago, J. Geils, Rick Derringer as well as comedian Steve Martin who visited the ranch with The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and more. $600-800

James W. Guercio took Moondog into the studio in 1969 to produce a record for Columbia Records after meeting the artist on the streets of New York City wearing his signature cloak and Viking-style helmet. Mr. Guercio produced two albums with the poet composer, to this day they are the recordings of which he is most proud.
Tracks from Moondog can be found on the soundtrack for the 1998 film The Big Lebowski. $250-350
