Jack’s formidable influence can be found in the course’s emphasis on shot values; strategy and finesse are required on Golden Bear rather than brute strength. Mature oak and pine forests frame the gently rolling fairways, and there is just enough water and sand to keep golfers from being mesmerized by the course’s tranquil, parklike beauty. With six sets of tees to choose from, Golden Bear can accommodate the low handicapper, as well as beginners and juniors. In 2017, the course renovated its greens, bunkers and driving range.
