A WOODEN BOAT BUILDING SCHOOL

The wooden Boat Building School would be located on a small town next to Brooklin maine. It is Situated next to a peninsula and is just outside Blue Hill Bay.

The town has a low population but is verry integratted with nature. the area is well know for its creation of boats where many people around the world visit and take courses on the town on how to built their very own boat.

Context

In order to fullfil the idea of the Wooden Boat Building School, the outdoors and the indoors had to play as one. Also the idea of circulation between the students and visitors had to blend well with the people building the boats thus causeing for big areas of circulation to be consider. one of the aspects the buildng included was the idea of playing with topography which allowed for all three sections of the building to flow as one.

The sections emphasize the importance that the roof has which directs where the students/visitors should go. The sections also emphasize the importance in height which each room has for the importance of the space.

These diagrams show how the idea of having three main spaces which are devided from public space, workshop space, and study space. This spaces dictate the shape that the building takes. the diagrams also represent how shadows work on those big spaces

The structure that the building takes tries to emphasize the direction one should take while creating a space for easy air circulation and ample amount of natural light to enter the building. It also tries to create multiple access points for guest and boats to enter and leave the building.

The Mission Hill + Community Center is a place that would allow for afternoon classes as well as Activities to accur thorught the year. The Building is situated on a 10 ft topographic site from one side to the other. The Idea behind the design was to incorporate the topography and blend it in with the circulation of the buildng.
