Lagula Arquitectes is an architectural firm based in Barcelona since 2001. It brings together five partners and a large team of collaborators. The firm develops projects for public and private customers of different size and typology including residential and hotel projects, industrial and logistics, cultural and civic centres, sports facilities and public space, among others. The team collects references and national and international awards, and develops research and teaching at University (UPC-Barcelona-tech, IaaC, Tsinghua University of Beijing, AAVA London) and through congresses and conferences. Lagula Arquitectes professional practice is based on a non-conventional use of traditional materials and techniques. Also their work explores the opportunities of the site. It is in their aim to take advantage of geometry and programmatic conditions as an architectural archetypes screening tool. It implies the understanding of a place adding construction traditions and social behaviours to the sense of landscape. They strongly force themselves to work in the specificity of the local, environmental, and cultural conditions. In February of 2009 Lagula Arquitectes obtained the 1st. PRIZE in the competition for a the Museum of La Patum in Berga, Barcelona, a Catalan Festival declared Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2005. Now, Lagula is developing the Final Architectural Plan Set.
